Hey, I'm considering doing some more gun modifications, 1903's are very expensive and they aren't a great main battle rifle. Now, if anyone wants it, I'd be willing to marry a Dboys and a BAR-10 (or VSR) and it would only cost me about $250-$300 per rifle. Anyone interested? I'd be interested when I get some extra money in mid-June, if you're still making 98k's

Looks awesome! But for final assembly, make sure the lower band is on the right way. The sling attachment should be on the left side of the gun.

Barrel is cut and fitted, new floorplate(bottom half of Dboys bolt) is primed to be welded, and rear sight is almost filed enough to fit on the barrel. After that, all that needs to be done is the mag well

imgur.com/a/CaEzU That's a little bit of the work there. Actually had to bend the cut bolt a bit to make it fit the reciever

Still no trigger since I need a tap, but getting pretty close. I'm also trying a new tactic with the sight imgur.com/a/4LWaOIf you are wondering about the candles, they keep away mosquitos as they are really bad here

Looks great! Is that wood or plastic? It may be the light, but I've never seen dboys plastic wood that color.

It's been a while since my last update on here but I just finished the mag well. This was a much better job than I did with my 1903. It's still not perfect but it's an improvement. I still have to insert the mag release so I still have that ahead of me and I'm very close getting the trigger in place. Just an hour or two going at the receiver should do it. After that it's all just cleanup and polish!

Well, its been over a year of frustrations and trouble but I now have a functioning Bar-98. There still is stuff to do with it cosmetically, but it functions. I'll upload better pictures here tomorrow since these are awful imgur.com/a/CoAba

I have always been reluctant to cut the VSR receiver group housing back beyond the hop up and especially going back to the piston housing. Obviously your modified rear site becomes the new housing. Any negative results from a functionality perspective?
Obviously it provides some additional opportunities when it comes to fit.

When I was trying to do that, it worked surprisingly, with very little trouble. However, I had to buy a completely different rifle to make this gun work for a completely different reason

The furthest back I have been willing to cut back the VSR large outer barrel is to the very front of the hop up. Obviously your highly modified DBoys rear site becomes that housing but yikes! That seems terrifying to me. In an early project conversion I cut the VSR housing further back and screwed it up so bad the base gun became a parts mule.
Throughout this build you have done numerous creative and clever adaptations to the common approaches and results are very impressive. Assuming the gun functions seamlessly (which is a miracle given the time consuming and dramatic steps you've taken) I can't believe your price point.
I am anxious to hear a field functionality report from Aachen on this rifle!

If you are still building these I'd be very interested! I don't have adequate tools to build one on my own. I'd have to use a sander and do the bondo baby approach for a vz24.
