Already sold out at airsoftGI. with their 14% discount it was just under $400.00 which seems attractive with two magazines. Wish it wasn't gas!

Apparently, the magazines take both CO2 and green gas/propane, they have a compartment for each!! Wow, I've never seen that before!!

I don't think each mag has two separate compartments. Last time I heard, one mag is green gas, one is CO2.

Brownien, check the airsoft atlanta description of the rifle. From what I understood, it can take both. I maybe wrong! Having someone else double check or confirm this would be awesome!

Anything is possible I suppose but as I understand it the magazines are interchangeable with the GnG Kar 98 offering and those mags are EITHER CO2 or greengas/ propane. I am anxious to hear reports on function and real world durability. I don't need anymore gas gun wall hangers.

Agreed. A skirmishable spring kar98 would be very nice. And one that doesn't cost as much as a real kar98. I'm surprised there aren't any. It sounds like such a practical rifle to make. It would get good market and it wouldn't be too expensive or hard for a company to produce. Who knows. In a few years, there might finally be one.

You mean by starting your own brand or petitioning an already existing company?

I think the hope is for something priced Like the D Boys but as a traditional springer without the shells. this seems SO within the realm of simple production for any of a number of the major brands it just seems crazy that it hasn't been done. think about it a $135.00 to $150.00 Kar 98 would really be a deal changer for our hobby. until that happens (don't anyone hold their breath). custom conversions will be our only options and of course this will require production effort and time and the cost of components from two rifles. a BAR 10 and D Boys or a Bar 10 and actual Kar 98. the inevitable result is a relatively expensive gun.
It really is essential to our hobby that an affordable but effective Kar 98 become available. As long as MP40s and MP 44s cost less they will continue to be the most prevalent German arms while the Kar 98 will continue to be rare where the reverse is what should be true. FRUSTRATING! Scott your help is dearly needed!

Hijack Hijack Hijack. Sorry guys. I realize this thread is supposed to be about the new GnG Springfield. To get back on track how would we go about determining if the magazines were both CO2 and green gas or included a seperate magazine for each? Also I had thought the magazines were interchangeable with the GnG Kar 98 but I see that the M1903 is nine rounds while I had understood the Kar 98 is 15?
Anyone have any clarity on that ?

I recall from different web sources awhile back that the kar98 offering came with 2 mags, both holding 10rds, but one was Co2 and one was green gas. I would imagine G&G is doing the same for the m1903. I remember also when I was going to get my redfire kar98, that several websites list it's magazine as holding 9 or 10 rds, it varied from site to site, but it does in fact hold 10rds. I think this is the same deal for the m1903.

I seem to remember a report that indicated the Kar 98 from GnG and the M1903 shared the same magazine which would be highly desireable I think. How has your Redfire Kar 98 performed thus far? Has anyone purchased the GnG Kar98 or M1903 yet? t would be great to get some first hand reports. Fingers are crossed that they will be favorable.

Personally, I love my redfire kar98! I discovered that there is a Fps restrictor in the bb nozzle that is adjustable, and with it wide open, it gets great power! I would like to get the m1903 sometime soon, and set it up like my kar98 with a remote line, and speed loader mag feeding

An FPS restricter? Interesting. Years ago there used to be muzzle devices with small rubber flaps that could be adapted to reduce FPS for events but these traditionally didn't pass authorization standards at big events such as Lion Claws hence sort of fell out of favor. The fear was folks would simply remove them once they chrono'd. Back in the day it was not unheard of for players to get down right creative when it came to certifying hot guns at chrono. (oil in barrels, tape residue and these adapters). Having the system built into the gun is interesting. As you know many countries restrict FPS rather conservatively (UK and Japan among others). This must be a way to insure the gun can be exported.

It isn't a law, but some states, like CA, most fields have 400 FPS as a limit. So it may not be illegal to bring a 450FPS rifle into the state, but if you wanna airsoft, than you'll need it lower. I'm pretty sure there are other states like this.

In Michigan, all fields (that I know of) have a 550 fps limit (or less).

550 must be for bolt action, sniper type rifles (probably with a minimum engagement range.) Surely 550 FPS can't be for full auto fire? i wouldn't even want to see it on semi auto fire. For the Lion Claws series it has always been 387 FPS w/ .20 gram at the muzzle and ANYTHING over wasn't allowed. I really think 400 FPS makes sense but given the low rate of fire and fact that a bolt action rifle tends to only be skirmishable at great range am okay with 550 FPS w/ .20 gram or the jouelles equivalent. Usually for accuracy reasons high FPS rifles use heavier BBs with their improved inertia.

550 is for bolt action. Semi auto is 400, which makes much more sense.

Not to take this off topic but both Jerry and I are looking into possible solutions to that Joe. Actually, that makes three of us. The initial build is going slow, but I have happened across a few ways of doing things that other builders may find quite useful (like being able to have a trigger guard/floorplate area that is totally without visible modifications). Will post more on these on a non-hijacked thread when time allows.
