Just wanted to share this airborne helmet I completed today for a friend and fellow reenactor. I took a postwar shell, stripped the awful silica texture and apple green paint, repainted it with correct extra-flat OD paint and textured it with cork, and then bar tacked the repro chinstraps onto the shell. The liner is a repro made of shiny plastic, so I also painted the outside of the liner with flat OD paint to make it look more correct. I'm quite pleased with this helmet, it turned out better than I'd hoped. It is as historically correct as you can get without spending multiple hundreds of dollars or more. I'm currently working on a similar airborne helmet using an original WW2 shell. Edit: how did I forget the before photo? Before After

So, I'm gauging interest in these repro helmets. Would folks be interested in purchasing postwar helmets custom-refurbished to WW2 specs? With ultra-flat OD paint with cork texturing, repro WW2 chinstraps, custom markings (if desired), and, if wanted, repro liners? I can do either infantry or airborne helmets. I'm still trying to figure prices on these. They will be less than high-end helmets like J. Murray and Alexander & Sons, but more than the At The Front repro-grade helmets. Roughly $100-$120 for an infantry helmet; $120-$150 for an airborne helmet. I currently have 4 shells awaiting refurbishment. Here's some of my work. A late-war Schlueter shell that was stripped and primed by its owner. I repainted and retextured it for him. He'll be adding the chinstraps himself. Before: After: Texture close-up: A postwar shell I refurbished several years ago for my 2nd Armored Division impression. The emblem is hand painted and lightly aged. A front seam, swivel bail WW2 shell I just refurbished as an M1C for myself along with detail shots of the repro liner. Turned out great. Showing the airborne chinstraps. Detail shot of the cork texturing and the chinstrap bar tack. The plastic repro liner as painted. The scuffs are from being in the helmet. Inside shot. The outside of the liner was also shiny green before being painted. As I intend to wear it: Would there be any interested in these?

People would be all over an airborne helmet of that quality for $120.

Not sure you'd say that if you were in France and that was your helmet

The grenade stands are very cool. Do you have a mold for the resin grenade head and proper stencils? It really looks great. (as do the helmets)
