Maybe someone here knows something about this. I've been poking around looking for information on Finnish equipment. The Finnish army ran a pretty shoestring operation. Even the Russkies were well equipped by comparison. The M31 Suomi SMG used either a drum or several types of stick magazine. What I've not been able to find is a picture of the mag pouches used for either of these. I have found pictures of Finnish troops with a spare drum hanging from their belt. Anybody have any info on this? Or for a Finn impression could I used a "captured" Russian PPSh41 pouch?

You could. Personally, I think a mosin nagant is better for the impression. But if you do want to use an SMG, they would hang drums from their belt. I can't remember if they improvised with that (I'm sure it'd be fine if you did) or if there was a certain tool (if there was, chances are it was made for another purpose) for that.

I've been doing a little research on Finnish gear actually. I plan to do a Finnish kit sometime.

The M31 magazines will fit in the German MP40 magazine pouch. Much of the Finnish equipment was purchased or borrowed from the Germans.
In fact, the German troops that were issued M31's liked them better than the MP40s. The Germans imported over 3,000 of the M31s and acquired thousands more from Spanish, French, and eastern European troops. There are even cases where the Germans modified MP40 mags to fit in the M31 by adding a plate to the side of the magazine.
