Here's a question for someone with too much trivia in his head. The Finns used a bread bag similar to the German WWI model (and often enough actual surplus WWI bags). Did they hang it on their equipment belt, German style, or did they use the shoulder strap. I've been looking through photos and haven't been able to decide what they're doing. Too bad they didn't have HD digital cameras back then.

I believe they hung it German style on their belts. They also carried WWI German canteens on them and I believe messkits from the same country and period. They traveled light

Those are some interesting ammo pouches. I'm curious as to what they are.

I did some poking around and it looks like a Swiss ammo pouch!

That could make sense. When I first saw it, I thought the pouches in the soldier looked canvas actually

They could just be worn. I don't know how much trade there was between the Finns and Swiss, but the Swiss did buy some M31's from the Finns to supplement their own typically Swiss over engineered and very expensive SMG. Seems plausible.

Just ordered jackboots and a belt to go with the other Finnish stuff I've ordered. Gonna be like Christmas in August when all this stuff arrives. Gonna be like January in August when all the credit card bills come in. Still need to get some ammo pouches and a puuko knife. And figure out what to do for a weapon.

Hessen Antiques. They have Wachbattalion jackboots for $80. Only one size, 9 1/2, which is just what I needed.

I was gonna say I have a link for post war Finnish jackboots, but you already got some. You could use a redfire mosin Nagant for your weapon.
