i know there's a lot more to sniping than that, but i'm pretty motivated to be a sniper, and i KNOW i'm going to get great at it. i can feel it. Nothing like unbridled optimism

yeah, i don't mean to sound like that, its just, i'm just pretty darn sure i would be naturally a good sniper. i don't know why i feel this, i just do! I've never believed in the "naturally good shot" theory. Someone taught even some of the most basic laws of shooting can quickly surpass those who claim to be "naturally good". The rifle becomes an extention of the soldier, and the art of mastering it is just that, an art. Our reenacting unit goes and does live shoot range days a few times a year (we're lucky enough to have a rifle range owner in our unit ;D). I'm someone with very minimal shooting experience, and after a few hundred rounds of brass I took a qulification test based on WWII weapons qualification standards and scored at Marksmanship level with the m1. Went to the range a few times again, and made Sharpshooter at our latest event. I really don't see it as anything special or give credit to myself. Proper training and proper practice did all the work. It's normally people who have never or very rarely shot claim to be a naturally good shot. I've never seen a "naturally good shot" outshoot someone who's been taught and practices the basic laws of shooting. There may be a reason for that. But get out there and burn some brass! History's proven it's one of the most effective methods.

It took a while to get it all together and sew the various things on but my Major Konig tunic is finished now as well. It's made up of Sturm M36 EM tunic. Jager officer (major) shoulderboards. Jager officer collar tabs. Officers brest eagle. Jager sleeve badge. WW1 EK2 ribbon with 1939 bar. WW1 EK1 (screwback) with 1939 bar. Knights war merit cross. WW1 black wound badge. Hindenburg cross ribbon bar. i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj93/petee99d/M36tunic.jpg

This thread will never die! Koenig impression looks really good. I never finished mine but may do it someday. I jumped around with too many impressions at the same time and completed none of them. I have Airsoft A.D.D. Now you need a buddy to dress up in Russian garb, find a desolate ruined city block and have at each other!

Hello, I am putting together Ed Harris's dress uniform over the next few months. Just thought I would say hello.

For what it's worth german mountain troops have always (and still do) wear the edelweiss.
I seem to recall it's because the real flower only grows above a certain altitude so you have to be a mountaineer to pick them... or thats the folklore anyway. It's not just a WWII thing.

the sniper in enemy at the gates isnt a gebirgsjager. hes a jager. he wears the oakleaf, instead of the edelweiss.

Love the protective "face". Its the best way ive seen to provide safety without looking hokey at reasonable distances. How comfortable is it? and how badly does it cause fogging up?
