So I was recently introduced, and was told to join this forum, but I haven't posted a thread about some questions I still have.
Firstly, this community looks awesome, or should I say it looked like at some point it was, there just doesn't seem to be a lot of activity
Second, I would like to know the boundaries on costuming as a medic, and armament. A post says no long guns, but that's 4 years old, and I was wondering if it was okay to carry a spring m1 carbine like a few medics did carry?
Third and lastly, I live in the central part of Maryland, and while there are places to play in Maryland, they're almost always about an hour drive. I was wondering if there was a way to remedy this.

Unfortunately, there really isn't a way to remedy the distance between fields. I am in the same situation. Paintball Sportsland is a place me and my guys been to a few times. Its a decent field, enough to check it out at least once.
M1 Carbine is perfect for a Medic. Even though Army Medics didn't carry guns, since the Germans actually gave a crap about the Geneva Convention, Corpsman in the Pacific carried M1 Carbines.

Welcome to the forum! I have t agree with you. It does seem like many people who have been on in the past just havnt been on much. Thats why we've been pushing to recruit new blood! If you want to be "Doc", your best bet would be to get yourself the basic infantry uniform. Wool Shirt & Pants M41 Jacket Leggings & roughout boots M1 Helmet Your helmet can either be painted with the white circle and red cross, in many different placements (Front & Rear, Front rear Left Right, Front and rear corners) sometimes white squares were used instead of circles. Occationally they werent painted on and an extra brassard was placed under the helmet netting in front. Search for what suits you best. Of course you will need the Brassard for around your Left arm as well. For webgear, a pistol belt around your waist with two canteens at your rear, along with your own carlisle pouch, and a sheathed knife like an M3 if you'd like. Over that you would wear the medic's yoke (Similar to combat suspenders used by infantry, but much more surface area) with two medical bags attached at your sides. In these, you can make up bandages to apply to the "wounded" (depending on the event reenactments respawn/medic rules) scissors for medical tape, packets of sulfa powder, gauze, anything you can think of really. If you want to look into making your own bandages and such look here: ww2reenactors.proboards.com/board/74/medical-sectionYou will most likely need to make an account on this ^ forum to view it. They have TONS of great reference material as well. As far as weapons, you can carry a carbine with you to events and such, but from my own experiences having Shwerpunkt (Forum member and dedicated ww2 medic immpressionist)at past events, you really dont need a weapon to add A LOT to the event! Watch any WW2 movie, Band of Brothers, Saving Private Ryan, you name it. look at the effort the Medic is putting in those scenes where hes trying to bandage a soldier up. Very intense. That is exactly how I saw Shwerpunkt acting at my past DDay event! He event got the people he was "working on" to act out their wounds realistically. I wished I could have filmed it! He wasnt armed at all. Only thing he had carried out onto the field was a stretcher, and he actually used it to carry the "wounded" with! Basically, you can make your medic experience anything you want, whether you choose to be armed or not. If you wanted to choose a happy medium, you could carry a M1911a1 in a holster. that way you can have your hands free to do "medical stuff" and still shoot back or capture krauts if need be! EDIT: 'Schwerpunkt'

I think Nate pretty much covered it. Due to request and for anyone else interested, I'll be making a thread on reenacting the U.S. Army medic for airsoft the way I approach it. As Nate said, I don't carry any weapons when I play and it doesn't detract from the experience for me, but everyone is different.

4-5 right now. We are getting our US kits finished up, but I have a German soldier impression going myself. We do plan to focus on German kits for all of us after the US stuff is finished.

Just regular US Army Rifleman, except for my wife. She has USN Corpseman impression. We are always looking for new guys, so after we see you play a few times with us, we'll invite you in. Don't worry about getting a whole new impression for now for joining us. We would be plenty happy to get any other WWII guy joining us, regardless of unit, branch or country.
We plan on playing at Paintball Sportsland, on Saturday, the 11th next.
