Insterburger, I can totally agree with that. Personally I like being able go as both sides, but I have to stick with my team for these bigger events. At the local fields, though, I'm constantly switch sides, haha.

I don't think it would be a problem if we left all our weaponry packed away, emptied our mag pouches, and removed knives and bayonets from our persons. With all of that gone from all of us, I doubt there would be any cause for alarm, even if someone does have a problem with it, we wouldn't be doing anything even close to breaking a law. We could even use a bit of masking tape to cover up any SS symbols or swasticas on uniforms. That's what I've been doing when I wear my German uniform to events, and once I arrive I just remove the tape. No chance for butt hurtery

OK, that might work then. We'll be fighting until dark, bit it should get dark around 6.

Get a group picture in front of the Marquee! Post it on the FURY web site (I'm sure there is one!) Hold the WW2 Airsoft sign MIGS has. Who knows maybe it will go viral!

Hey, I was half kidding, but I'm totally game if others would do it, especially since I haven't had a chance to catch the film yet. Honestly, I'd see someone calling me out while I'm in a Heer uniform as a "teachable moment" for the other person, all the more so with a half dozen GIs with me who have my back. If you're sporting SS runes, then you would have, as Ricky Ricardo would say, a lot more 'splainin' to do, but that too holds the possibility of enlightening others.

I think if there is a mix of allied and axis you'll be fine. As for SS and Heer the average movie goer wouldn't have a clue although the movie makes a point of differentiating the two. Once we were into Germany, many German soldiers were all too happy to lay down their arms and speed up the end of the war while others, especially the SS and often the newly incorporated Hitler Youth were more fanatical then ever. It made it an especially trying phase of the war for allied soldiers and citizens caught up in the middle of it.

Yup, for the most part at the end of the war the Heer was made up of conscripts who saw themselves as primarily serving their country, not the regime, and when the writing was on the wall were glad to see things end and move on to whatever was next. The SS, whether true believers or foreign volunteers, were much more "invested" in Hitler's Germany, and had little reason not to go all in during the end game.

have fun explaining that to a person who is Jewish and sees us out about town flaunting the Feld Grau. Just saying.

I actually have had the opportunity to discuss exactly that with Jewish people, not while actually wearing a uniform, but while displaying items in the past. Success or failure is, to a great deal, achieved through acknowledging their position but diplomatically asking them to approach the subject with intelligence, nuance, and understanding. It's as much-- or more-- how you say it as what you say.
It is also worth pointing out-- if done in an understanding and carefully worded way-- that it was an uninformed and one-dimensional view of a "hated enemy" and the wrongminded concept of collective guilt that made the Holocaust possible in the first place.
But we are getting slightly off topic... So far I have Patrick, and perhaps (if needed) two of Migs' crew requiring full or partial Axis impressions. Anyone else with needs from the Quartiermeister, please inquire.

I have an extra Heer uniform that will fit a small to medium soldat. I am planning on going Luftwaffe for this one. I also have a s/m wool US trench coat if anyone wants to wear it. It may be nice to have if the weather gets more seasonal next weekend. Let me know if I should bring it.

To be honest, I doubt people will know who you are. I have heard of people thinking the german reenactors were in service and apparently a Jewish couple asked to get a picture with a guy in his german uniform. Mind you, it had the german eagle and swatzika on it.

Jer, maybe we should be a joint Feld-Falli LW Schlachtgruppe, since I should have my Field Division impression done by then.

From what it seems, there are going to be quite a few Germans attending! 1ssah, do you have some solid numbers for both sides? If need be I can bring my US kit as well and change out if to balance.

Unfortunately, I do not have any solid numbers for either side. Like I previously posted, I'm bringing 7 including myself for the U.S side. Let's get a head count. Migs

If I'm interpreting posts correctly, it looks like we have five potential Germans (Me, Graham, Jer, Nate, Patrick), and ten GIs (Drac's group of 3 and Migs' group of 10). Of course that doesn't take into account any latecomers or players who aren't active here. With some of Migs' guys willing to switch sides, we should have a relatively balanced game either way (hopefully!).

I'm trying to bring another with me, I let him know about it last week and I'll be talking to him monday if he can go or not. If he can, i don't think he'd mind doing German. I can always have him use a captured thompson or garand. I would just need some basic kit items for him, he's a smaller guy.

I may have spoken too soon on some of my guys doing German. They all would prefer to do U.S. I'll be kiting them out as best as I can, but for three of them, it's their first time and they would prefer to fight with me and not against me.
Once we're there, perhaps they can think about switching if necessary, but as of last night (I had them over for an outfitting), they all prefer to do U.S.
Regarding the movies, I won't be able to make it and I'm not sure it's a good idea. Based on our previous discussion regarding the NJ gun laws, the last thing you want to do is bring attention to yourselves and have the Police show up because someone got offended by the German uniforms. Never want the Police there asking questions and then you get the question of "what's in your car?" I know it's a stretch, but ya never know. If you do go, perhaps you guys can car pool to the movies in a vehicle not packed with airsoft guns. Food for thought.
This is for Graham, I'm assuming you want us at your house by 10:00?
Also, sundown is 4:40PM and should be getting dark in the woods a 1/2 hour before that.

Graham: I can only do Saturday, and my loaner gear is going to have to come home with me, so you should plan accordingly.
Where are the FJ coming from?

NY; I don't know for certain if they'll be there or not. Bring SS gear for Patrick; he wont be there sunday either, so it'll work out fine.

Numbers are still unconfirmed for my team. However I did a gear check and if we bring 3 of us, then we will need to borrow one set of M36 Suspenders. If we manage to bring all 4, then we will need to borrow the suspenders and a full basic infantry set (ammo belt, suspenders, canteen, etc etc).

He said he maybe could come, but it seems like a stretch for him. He has a WW2 airsoft page on facebook where he has been trying to promote the hobby in the NE. Its called the Western Front WW2 Airsoft Association. They have a game coming up in Mass in Dec, not sure of the exact date, Or any of the details. Hopefully he will post a link or something here for us. for our events it would probably help to post and promote it on the Western Front FB page as well as here because over 700 potential players see the posts.

Just an idea for some of the GI's who will be there on Sunday. A good idea may to bring an impromptu Volksturm impression. You could still use your US weaponry as captures. Just a thought to help balance sides for day two
