Just to let you all know, AMS is having a sale on the black Cyma M1 carbines. I believe they are about $20 each. The mags are also on sale for roughly $1.75. Prolly only will last while stuff is in stock!

Is that with a discount code or something? I'm looking and everything is standard priced.

Thats an amazing deal! If I didn't already have 18 of them I'd jump on this. The black sands off revealing a tan finish which can be stained or even coated with brown shoe polish for a convincing walnut finish.
At 1.75 each not much to risk with regards to the task of shortening them.

this really is a super deal and this is where I got all 24 of the carbines I bought with no problems whatsoever and prompt shipping. The frustrating thing about this knd of pricing on a great little gun is how reasonable it would seem to be for a Manufacturer like UK Arms or CYMA to do a well made, skirmishable springer KAR 98/ Springfield/ Enflield/ Arisaka at under $100.00! If such weapons were available of equal quality and performance (albeit I'd love to see another 100 FPS in them). they would sell like crazy and be a huge boon to our hobby.
In the interem I have been arming my German forces liberally with these carbines which was perhaps the most popular battlefield pickup for the Germans who type classified it and liked it better than the M1 Garand.

I don't "super" can describe this, its insanity. $1.75 for a magazine that doesn't suck is pretty much unheard of, and a $20 springer that can compete with AEG's is frigging great!
Hell, I think I might even order another Carbine tonight.
EDIT: I won't be able to, their free shipping code isn't working for me anymore, even though they have the ads for it still up.... Oh well. At least I'll have two of these and over ten mags, haha.

It was a little awkward completing the process but I ordered a bunch of additional magazines for the CYMA Carbines along with other magazines that were just too cheap to pass up. The SHIPIT code automatically drops off your shipping as you complete your order.
If you ever considered one (or more) of these little carbines jump on this while they have them. These are excellent props visually and are really good little shooters. This obviously is a clearance deal as 19.78 can't be making them any money at all. Do NOT let the black discourage you as its easy to cosmetically enhance these.

Well, got mine in! Unfortunately, I wasn't "unlucky" enough to get the wrong color once more. Oh well, time to clean the crap out of the barrel, and paint. I'll eventually chop off the bayonet lug. I'm low on dremel blades and want to save those to finish up the Kar98. Thats 15 mags! I'm going to nab another M1 Carbine (black ones are back at 30 bucks), 2 more slings and oiler sets, and I'll have three good loaner weapons for the Allies. Might get more in the future, but this should hold me over for a long time, or until they have another crazy sale like this, haha.

And the problem is going to be shortening them to the correct size. My mag shortening success, out of 4, have been: 1 success, 3 failures
So... Probably going to commission someone for that and to fix those mags I just mentioned, haha. Needed this much though, for loaner purposes. Still need 1 or 2 more Carbines. Imagining 4-5 mags per Carbine kit. I'm kind of trying to do what 2nd Bat does in his area, but down here in MD. The whole loaner kits and what not. Except my operation is going to be on a much much smaller scale for awhile.

Where is your hangup with the shortening? I have had one "fail" out of well over 100 conversions and that was because i lost the little nipple which flew out. My secret quality control measure was buying a small hobby saw and tiny miter box. until I did that my cuts required a lot of effort to even things up. I think this little saw set up was perhaps $15.00 but well worth it.
These are perfect loaner guns as they function predictably and reliably (once you clean out the barrels and eliminate any burrs). Unlike any other loaner gun I have these require virtually no instructions and have been absolutely trouble free. Issue them out along with three spare mags, a speed loader and no one comes running to you with an "issue."
As far as durability or problems I have had some lost magazines, some broken front sights (easy repairs) and that is it.

I would like to know what I did wrong, myself! Haha. I really don't know to be honest. These were with Thompson mags, too. I just cut out a section, put them together, and then when I tested them out, those three didn't work (and yes, I made the far away from the bottom, so no interfering with the bottom curve). However, the one that did work, worked flawlessly.

In reflecting back on my builds I only had 1 that remained unwilling to operate flawlessly but I had others that intially "Hung up" when the nipple snagged on the newly created seam. The fix of course was additional ABS glue on the inside to serve as filler followed by aggressive sanding once dry. I used some coffee stir sticks wrapped around the sand paper sized to match the inner channel. From then on for my hack jobs prior to reassembly I worked the little nipple up and down the channel to insure there wasn't even the slightest tick or snag before reassembling the magazines and all have worked great.
Assuming you can still take them apart (side to side) they should be salvageable. In the meantime use the unworkable mags for pictures and the unalterred Banana clips for game play until you can get them modified. Youll have your hands full trying to convert another Kar 98 before the event this weekend! Good luck with it.

Well, the Kar98 is almost done. Some work I have to do it in the morning, after the JB weld cures, but with everything I need to do for the weekend, I won't have time, haha. Finish Kar-98, break in and mod my new Black Watch Kilt a tad, pack my kits, pack the loaner kits, charging batteries, make hardtack, etc etc.

I received a bunch of additional banana mags. (At $1.75 each I couldn't resist). No hurry getting them shortened as I have about 60 done now! This AMS sale was amazing. I hope a bunch of our members took advantage of it.

I´ve got to get me one of these! My story with these carbines is a sad story of dissapointment and rage: as you may (or probably not) know, I live in Chile, where WW2 stuff is harder to come-by than a honest politician. So when I came across this cute M1 on Amazon at an affordable price, I jumped to the opportunity... only to be told by the courier company that manages Amazon stuff over here that "they are not allowed to bring in "pneumatic rifles" - try to explain that "aisoft" is not cosidered a pneumatic rifle under Chilean laws to someone who never ever have heard about airsoft and that probably considers "rifles" as the tools of the Devil!. Without discouraging myself, I started to surf the web looking for the carbine, and hit a few reasonable prized rifles... only to be again slapped in the face by the Shipment/Handling fees of 300% of the overall value of the rifle to get it sent down here!. So I looked for a friend who routinely travels from Florida to my hometown, and gave him the money; he set a condition: that I should bring his fiancee a bouquet of flowers on Valentine Day while he was in the states, which I did; sadly, he got dumped a few days back (on account that he wont be able to get back to chile for a few more weeks) so he doesn´t have a reason to get back to Chile for some time! There goes my carbine again!... I´m starting to believe that someone or something does NOT want me to have this carbine!

Are the major airsoft retailers (other than Amazon) unwilling or unable to ship these to Chile? I know when I sell used airsoft rifles on Ebay they prohibit foreign sales of airsoft guns. That sucks as these really are nice little replicas. I am in the process of converting a couple more of them into M1A1 replicas as the parts to do so are cheap or laying around. I wish I had a 3D printer as I could create a pre shaped pistol grip and supporting bits and the conversion could be pretty simple and less time consuming. As it is these conversions take a lot of time. I also ordered and got in a huge batch of the magazines as the $1.75 price was too tempting.

usually major retailers don´t make much of a fuzz about sending stuff down here... is the S/H fee which is prohibitely expensive: for a U$D39,99 carbine, they charge an exhorbitant U$D70.00 Shipment and Handling fee, not considering the extra 17% tax that chilean customs charge for every and anything crossing our borders! adding all it turns that a forty buck carbine ends up costing almost two hundred bucks! but this is personal: I will get mine, no matter what! this I vow!
BTW, 2nd Bat... do you have spare Box Mags for the carbine available for sell?

I really made them for my own event use as I typically issue three spare mags with each of these little carbines and have (currently) 18 of these little guns which are my main loaner/ rental guns. The conversions from banana clips to box magazines are not hard conversions but they are time consuming and I'm afraid I'd have to charge too much for the required time to make them worth it. Follow the tutorials carefully which have been posted and you should be fine.
sadly I typically lose four or five of these converted magazines at each event so it seems I never have enough. Of all the loaner weapons I have ever used (I typically rent or loan out 25 to 30 airsoft guns at each event). These little carbines have absolutely worked out the best. They are simple, inexpensive and have been totally hassle free. The only damage has been to front sights and lost magazines. They have paid for themselves and I couldn't be happier with them. I felt I needed to charge $45.00 rental for AEGs just to break even on eventual repairs but at just $10.00 rental on these carbines feel I come out ahead! Definitely a great value. Guns go down at events and these carbines are fail safe backups and fill in weapons.
They also really support the type of play I like to see with more teamwork, more manuever and noticeable advantages for the crew served weapons and the tactics that inevitably take place with that reality.
