This is the new thread for the event that was cancelled in February.
The Battle of Hurtgen Forest
Presented by the 29th Panzergrenadier Regiment Date: May 9, 2015 – Site opens at 9:00am., Briefing at 10:00am. Location: Bailey’s Battlefield 1300 Kilburn Bridge Rd, Niangua, MO 65713 Cost: $10, pay at the event. No pre-registration required. Camping is available. Minimum Age Required: 16 years old
The Battle of Hürtgen Forest is the name given to the series of fierce battles fought between U.S. and German forces during World War II, which became the longest battle on German ground during the war and the longest single battle the U.S. Army has ever fought. The Battle of Hürtgen Forest event combines the best of historical re-enacting and airsoft together. This will be an immersive event that will take a look back into the 1940s using authentic uniforms and equipment along with scenarios that will have a distinctly WWII feel.
Once the event begins, there will be no start and stops. Scenarios and objectives will overlap and run continuously throughout the day.
Visit our Facebook event page for rules and uniform/equipment requirements. If you do not have an authentic WWII uniform and gear, you may still participate under certain guidelines. These guidelines can be found on the event page.
Features of this event will include: • Military style objectives such as the town of Schmidt, fuel dumps, and field headquarters. • Minefields, both active and passive. • Downed aircraft. • Medics and field hospitals. • Bunkers and foxholes.

Minefields
Yes, there will be minefields. After all, whats a WWII battle without the Germans laying a minefield?
Some players will be bringing active mines that they will be placing in the battle area, but there will also be a few passive minefields.
How do passive minefields work? A mine field will be noted by a colored tape (i.e. blue) wrapped around the trees or ground. While the minefield is active it is considered impassable.
Somewhere in the minefield (and accessible by players) will be a set of 10 mine simulators. Each simulator will have a cap on it that can be unscrewed and removed. This simulates disarming the mine. Once all 10 simulators have been disarmed the entire minefield is considered cleared and players may now ignore the colored tape for that field.
OC's will announce to players when the field is disarmed by saying something like "Blue minefield is now cleared." Make sure to spread the word to your teammates when this happens!

Medics
Medics will be a critical part of the team in the field. They will allow players to reenter the battle faster.
Depending on the number of players at the event will determine the minute details for the medics like the number of bandages they can carry, etc.
Bandages will be supplied by the event staff.
The number of bandages used by each side will figure into the victory points.

Victory Points
During the day, different objectives will become active. These objectives will be different for the Axis and the Allies. Each objective will be worth Victory Points (VPs). The side with the most points at the end of the day wins and gets bragging rights until the next event.
Example: For every 30 minutes a minefield is active, the Axis earn 100 VPs. For every minefield the Allies disarm, they earn 200 VPs. In essence, if the Axis can keep the minefield active for more than 90 minutes, they have earned more VPs than the Allies could get if they happen to disarm it. If the allies can disarm the minefield fast enough, they come out on top. After 90 mins, the Axis commander could pull his troops covering the minefield because its no longer a VP advantage and use them elsewhere.
You can see how the VPs will play into the decision making by the unit commanders.
