The next WWII Airsoft event in the North East.
Where: Ground Zero Airsoft, Wolcott, CT.
Sign ups at store: 1254 Wolcott Road, Wolcott, CT Field location: 243 Wolcott Road, Terryville, CT
When: May 30th-May 31st. Starting at 10AM Saturday, lasting overnight, ending 5PM Sunday.
Cost: $25 per person (1 Day); $40 per person (Whole Weekend)
Recon Report:
This event will be an over night game at GZA. The first day, which starts at 11AM, will be just us WW2 players and then on the second day we will play alongside the GZA regulars. The purpose of this event is to have fun, learn about history, and share our hobby and passion. You must sign in at the store, pay your fee, then head down to the field. We will also be doing a static display, so please bring your tentage/shelter halves/misc. equipment if possible.
Supplies:
We will be staying out overnight so bring everything you would need for a multiple day event. This includes, but is not limited to: -Water (Preferably in a period correct canteen) *** -Food (Preferably in period correct packaging) *** -Shelter (Preferably period correct tenting/shelter halves/zeltbahns) *** - Extra socks (GZA has swamps, creeks and streams. You may get wet, bring extra socks.) - Ammo (Bring extra BBs, you'll be swinging double the plastic you normally would. GZA also has some thick foliage, you may need heavy BBs.) - Extra Uniforms (It's getting hotter as the days go by, you may want to bring heavy weight and light weight uniforms, such as both Wools and HBTs.) - Extra Weapons (You're Thompson or MP40 may break down or die out, bring extra firearms.) - Friends (Or strangers, I don't discriminate. Seriously though, we want to expand this hobby, bring those that may be interested. Some of us are bringing extra weapons and kit, more about that below.)
***: These requirements do not need to be period correct to attend and participate. These are essential to your survive, but like said, it is preferred to have them be authentic.
Uniform Requirements: This is a late war scenario, so 1944-1945. So long as your kit/impression is accurate, it can consist of anything from 1944-45. We want this event to be fun and raise interest in our hobby. I'm not going to go around and say M1938 leggings and service shoes aren't accurate (That's what I'll be wearing), or that fixed bale M1s aren't accurate. So long as it existed and was used between 44-45 it's okay to use.
Weapon Requirements: It must be WWII. Please no unmodified M14s acting as Garands.
Loaning Uniforms and Gear:
Like said previously, I highly recommend bringing extra weapons, uniforms, and equipment. I myself will be, as I have a few friends, who are without kit, that are interested. This way we can fully equip any converts or walk-ons who'd like to get a better understanding on what it's like to play WWII Airsoft. I will also try to organize who lends what and from who, however, it is up to the loaner to remember their equipment. If you need a piece of kit, contact me, or one of the guys on our event Facebook page (www.facebook.com/groups/1078741172153134/) , we might be able to work something out.
Field Rules: Guns over 400 FPS have a minimum engagement rule (I'll figure out what that is.) Guns over 500 FPS may not be allowed (I'll get back to you on that, I may be wrong.) Those under 18 must wear full face protection (Mesh Mask, Full Seal Goggles/Paintball style Mask) Those 18 and older just need Full Seal Eye Protection.
*GZA has rental masks and mesh masks and goggles for sale if needed.
For more info go to our Facebook page: www.facebook.com/groups/1078741172153134/permalink/1080324701994781/
I hope to game will you all very soon, Sincerely, Matt.

Nice Jerry! I hope to see you guy soon. I will be bringing my camera to document the event as well. Also, I just changed some of the field rules to include what is needed for eye pro, in case you didn't notice.

I'll try to make it with whoever else I can bring with whatever loaner gear I can.
So, this is ANY Allied units vs ANY Axis units? It seems like this is a general scenario, but just want to be sure that the scenario doesn't set what units we can and cannot portray.

It seems like this is a general scenario, but just want to be sure that the scenario doesn't set what units we can and cannot portray. I just recognized that this morning actually. As it stands, I am pretty sure with 99% confidence that this is a European Theater of War (ETO) & Mediterranean Theater of War (MTO) only event. So as long as your impression is authentic, and existed on either front between 44-45 it's okay to bring.
This means, but is not limited to:
U.S, U.K, U.S.S.R, Italy (Both Fascist Italy and Italian Co-Belligerent Army), Germany...etc.
Partisans & Resistance Fighters: I am not sure if we will be allowing Partisans and Resistance fighters for this event. I will bring it up however, and get back to you guys.

Update I: Partisan and Resistance Fighter impressions are allowed.
Update II: Just for some clarification, although this event is structured around the timeline of 1944/45, you may bring any accurate WWII impression/kit even if it is based before these dates 1944/45. Again, so long as it pertains to the MTO/ETO.
***However, although we STRONGLY prefer for this to be a ETO/MTO event, if you only have a period correct PTO kit you may bring that as well.***

I'll be there with at least myself and my two boys (14, 18).
As for the recruiting part of this mission, perhaps those who plan on bringing items for use and display can list what they intend on bringing so we don't all display the same items.
I'll have my list up shortly.

I'll be bringing all my personal equipment and my two recently bought shelter halves. I also may bring my two 1942 dated LIFE magazines.
Side Note:
Evan, who is not apart of this forum, and to my knowledge is our only British reenactor, is trying to get a British tent for display as well.
I also highly recommend every one try to at least bring a shelter halve or pup tent. Having a "Tent City" would look very cool and definitely turn some heads the following morning when the GZA regulars arrive. Maybe, just maybe, we should have a morning formation.
Edit:
If anyone has a 48 Star U.S Flag that would be great. We can either make a makeshift flagpole, if the flagpole is absent, or tie it between some tents.

Important Update: To make this event run as smoothly as possible, Evan, one of the organizers, has made a player sheet. This sheet MUST be completed and turned in prior to May 24th in order to participate at the event. Inside this document you will be able to list what faction you wish to play as, what you wish your job to be, what gear you need to loan, what gear you wish to loan to others, tenting ,and much more. PLEASE fill this out! Here is the link to the Facebook page, in which you can download the document: www.facebook.com/groups/1078741172153134/1081834715177113/?notif_t=group_activity***If you need a Google Version of this document please message me and I will try to share it with you as soon as possible. Hello all,
I live in Boston with no car, and I really want to do this, but I will need a ride to and from the train station in Berlin if anyone can help me with that. Anyone willing to help a brother out? Being without a car is tough. I've got German kit.
Send me a text at 559-797-1089 (my GV number) and perhaps we can work something out.

I personally cannot, however I really hope someone contacts you. The more people the better, especially if you can get some of your friends involved. For anyone who is interested, the train station in Berlin is on Depot Road, and is only about a 30 minute drive from the store and field.
Also, can I get a count of how many people submitted forums already, and or if you are having a problem submitting the event player forum.
Edit: Also, in case it wasn't previously said, if you have any friends or guests coming along please make sure they submit and email a forum as well. If you know anyone who is coming, or who wants to come, who doesn't have an email, contact me.

Update: I've received some notifications on how some people are having issues with the Player Info Sheet for this event. I've talked with Evan and we've concluded that the sheet does not NEED to be filled out in order to attend and play. HOWEVER, it is HIGHLY, and I emphasize HIGHLY, recommended to fill it out if possible. This sheet, like previously stated, will definitely help sort out many of the logistical aspects of this event. Some of which include: Player Count, Loaning Gear (Both if you are loaning or need to loan something), and who is sleeping in what and where.
Also, my offer stands, if anyone is having trouble downloading the document, message me, I'll gladly share you a Google Version or write down a hand-written copy if needed. Thanks!

Thanks Matthew!
For the folks on the boards who might feel put off by the sheet, I had a chance to communicate with Matthew about it, and it's in no way, shape, or form about dictating what happens to your gear or what impression you'll be allowed to wear, it is simply for informational purposes so that the event organizers can get a handle on what people might be bringing so that new recruits can get the best, most immersive experience (and correct me if I'm wrong there, Matthew!).

As Insterburger put it, it's just a way to get an estimate of what people need and a rough estimate of how much gear people will be bringing. We want anyone, who doesn't have a fully complete kit or impression to be as fully loaded out as possible. And, like said, we can also see how many tents will be set up and if and who will have to share a tent. I myself am bringing my shelter halves to make one complete tent, which me and my friend will be using.
Also, please, invite as many people as you guys can! Bring friends, whether it be from work, school, whatever. If you know someone who is seriously interested and willing to give World War II Airsoft a try let them know. This event is not only for us guys to have fun, but to also get more people interested in this hobby!

Update: Unfortunately the WWII event will not be a completely WWII event. As it turns out there was miscommunication between the field owners at GZA, and there will be an OP running both days. Also, the price is now no longer $25 for both days, but $25 for each day. This totals $50 for those who plan on staying both days. This however, may be dropped to a lower cost, we are talking with the field owners at the moment, and we will keep you updated. Regardless I still think this will be a great day for all us WWII guys to game together and to raise interest in the hobby for future endeavors. I hope to still see you all there!

Another update: Price reduction; $40 if you play both days, $25 for 1 day. Also, we may be starting a bit earlier, but that is yet to be determined. Also, the OPSAT may be quarantined to a certain part of the field to let us have our fun, where and if this will happen is currently in the works. I'll keep you guys posted!

What we should also be working on is game scenarios for us. If we have a idea as to what we want to do, then Jolly can adjust to where we can play and where they can play. Perhaps a good idea could be that they take the firebase area all the way to the village (but not including the village) and we take from the Village out. Either way, we need to have a plan instead of just winging it once we get there. Migs

I also agree that the village onwards will probably be best for this event as that's the most WWII esque GZA can get. Especially with all the forests and streams.

Just filled out the player info sheet and emailed it in. I didn't put it on there, but I may have a extra mp40 with 5 spare mags and pouches to loan out if I can get it working again. The gearbox seized up for some reason and I got to take a look at it. AGM uses plastic bushings so its probably worn out but I'll check into it.

We'll have to play it by ear. What is confirmed, as of right now, is that we have the whole field from 11AM until 3PM, which is when the OPSAT starts. Now we must discuss gametypes, please guys post some suggestions down below!
Glad to see you can make it Jerry!

Looks like I have a decent chance of making it!!
Like I said, I'll bring plenty of loaner kits, and I'll have plenty of guns. I should at least one of my Kar98's finished and even an MG-42! On top of a lot of M1 carbines.
I should have 5 British kits, 4 US Army kits (with 1-3 base uniforms), and 3 German kits.
I'll be in my Black Watch impression for the weekend.
Unfortunately, since my focus as been on getting loaner kits, I won't have much proper stuff to show off on the tents and such side of things.
