I was thinking about $60,000 should cover it. I'm sure others have done this...

um, yeah cool project and all (I mean a really truley a great idea) but not a good desiscion, I think you may want to be able to buy a house eventually and a car if you dont have one, or continue school, stuff like that, how about a wooden mock tank, then put a golf cart under it with constuction style free swivel wheels along the sides and you can have it drivable, it wil look decent and its movable. Plus its way less to make.

You do realize how large a tiger tank is right? Something that large and detailed will not look good as a wood/pipe mock. I advise against this.

this is going to be one of those projects that take a LONG time to do. I was planing on maybe geting a "real" job when i get 15. Then maybe by the time I'm 18 I can go to a community college for one year. Then maybe after that I can go to UGA (I live like 15 min away) and I can live at home and not pay bills. By then I should have maybe $40,000-50,000 stored up.
Then after college I could join the Army and get do something Doing telecommunications of some type. Then after that I could get a good job in the phone service.... And make good money.
Ok, I've kinda told my life plans here but thats how I plan on paying for the "Tank".

I agree. As cool as this idea sounds, it is flawed in that the panels will constantly need readjustment and maintnance. What's more, the logistics surrounding the turret and various other moving attachment would be more hastle than they are worth. Finally, it would be unrealistic in just about every infantry engagement. I assume you know that tigers don't fight like they did in Saving Private Ryan. No Tiger commander in his right mind would involve his precious tank in an infantry only battle (unless you intend to fight hordes of Shermans, or maybe an M26!). In reality, a panzer III or Stug would be more realistic since they made several support versions of each (like the Panzer III Ausf. N). Finally, if it were realistic, the Tiger would be a nuisance for the Axis and a fun target for the allies. The Axis would be forced to protect it since it has limited vision and, if portrayed correctly, a VERY slow turret. For the allies, this noisy wooden contraption would just be a fun excuse to use a $200 Nerf bazooka (with an actual projectile) while the axis crew could knock themselves out trying to spray a bunch of super light bb's at an effective distance.

Agreed. Didn't the turret have two settings? Extremely fast and way to slow??

Good idea neoptolemus, I think a Panzer III would maybe even be a little cheaper. Being how its smaller then the tiger.

Cool idea, but I don't think spending money on something like that is worth it at all. Especially your age ; by the time you're almost done I'm sure you'll have wished you still had the money ; I'm sure your girlfriend will have wished you invested in a home with all that money rather than build a Tiger. Wait another 20 or 30 years and see if you are still interested, if you are, then go for it.

Eh, the stug III is only like $21,000. Not that much. But still alot.
Do you think a Ford R-150 Truck could be made into a Panzer III or Stug III? My dad has a few trucks that are un-used.
I guess I just want a WW2 german vehicle.
Maybe a 1/2 track. IDK. I think you could make a F-150 into a 1/2 track with some body changes and some rear tracks.

Honestly, dude. I don't mean to be an ass, but this dream is for adults. Us kids really want this stuff, but it won't happen. We want it to, but it won't. I don't mean to rain on the parade, but this has been mentioned by almost everyone wanting to do something like this, and it went nowhere.

I have to agree. I certainly would live in a cardboard box if I could have a tiger II, but that's really a waste. Maybe when you become a millionaire, you can buy a swiss Hetzer or czech 251, but until then, just buy some airsoft guns and repro clothing...

I disagree with most all of you, I think he can do it. My brother who is 17 is building a Hummer from a F150 and no parts kit, he is building the body from scratch. I am looking for either an old wood boat to strip it down and turn it into a pirate ship or a ferret tank which is vary close to the Dingo used in WW2. Don't let anyone tell you no. As long as you have a good imagination and some $ you can do what ever you want if its ok with your parents that is. I would recommend getting a ferret tank on ebay the are up fairly often for about 17,000. It is more of an armored car so it is street legal, its smaller, lighter, cheaper. DO IT!

Actually these wooden tigers don't seem so bad: And probably the best I've seen to date: Kidding of course, I just think that making a detailed replica may take a little more time, and a lot more money. These are all paintball tanks, but I'm sure that you can replace the paintball gun with a grenade launcher, or one of machinegunairsoft's mortar.
