Why does the stock need to be shiny? One other bot of constructive criticism: remove some of the rust. If its blued (which seems to be what you were making it look like), it shouldn't rust heavily. Only time that would happen is if it was a bare metal '45er.

Not very shiny, more like semi-gloss. I think the stocks needs one coat of varnish. Why? Because I like it.
It's not rust, although it looks like it. That was my first mistake: I tried to blacken the metal with fire and oil, but the main parts are not the metal I've expected, so I burned it. So what I did is burnishing, not blueing.

I am a huge fan of weathered weapons as they just look more appropriate for the field look we seek. I think your efforts look great.
