I`ve got some mags for the pouches (didn`t get around to putting them in for the pic), the pants are Brit lightweights as I can`t stand wool (wrong shade unfortunately), the y straps were with a Czech rucksack I bought (will get around to some leather ones in time). The helmet is a fibreglass repro with liner (very battered).

Get some luftwaffe tropical pants then. Really any tan colored pants will do the trick.

AFAIK, the tan/olive bandoleer was very late war...so late 44-45. Not 43.
Splinter covers werent around for Kreta...but the brown leather webbing is a very nice touch!

And side lace boots had not been replaced by front laced boots in time for Operation Merkur

AFAIK, the tan/olive bandoleer was very late war...so late 44-45. Not 43.! Thats Why I said '44. 43 would probably still be feldblau. Splinter covers weren't around for Kreta...but the brown leather webbing is a very nice touch! My Avatar Picture is an actual picture from operation Mercury notice the splinter helmet cover on the man on the right? You would also see them in the episode "operation Mercury-fall of Crete" of the series Battlefront. And side lace boots had not been replaced by front laced boots in time for Operation Merkur Both boots were used in Merkur, there are period photos of both boots being used on Crete. You guys should check out the book "Fallschirmjagers in Crete" Pages 45, 69 and 75 all have photos of Fallschirmjager with front lace boots. Page 61 will show you a splinter helmet cover (Paratroop in the foreground on the right) Machine gun squads and officers/NCO's were mostly issued the Splinter Smocks and/or helmet covers. This is a great book for any early war Fallschirmjager enthusiast!!

You said 43/44 on Italy. Didnt know that about the Splinter...but I am betting that picture is staged. And in the last picture, youre holding your cigarette wrong for a German I also think the rank gulls go on the left sleeve of the jump smock..not the right. Not positive on that though.

Rank Gulls would go on both sleeves of your jump smock, on your tunic it would be on your left sleeve. How does a German hold his cigarette? Hey... I had my wedding band on my right hand!

Yeah , the gulls go on both sides of the jump smock. Wedding band goes on the right hand , if it's on the left hand it means you are engaged. I meant to say that side laced boots had not been completly replaced by front laced ones yeath . it was a good comment not a bad one , it just sounded wrong. and do own FJ in Crete , don't like it that much tough.

Wow that is cool gerry- Thanks! *Warning, tangent alert! tangent alert!* You know it occurs to me seeing sites like that devoted to WWII German pictures- I didn't linger long there, but it appeared to be a Polish site? But it fascinates me, what is the draw of the 'Bad Guy' ? I mean here is a site apparently devoted to all things German, (I'm going to avoid using the 'N' word) by a country that was brutally over-run and occupied by them, yet there they are, I assume for the sake of reenacting- Is it human nature that we revel in exploring our 'enemies' to attempt to take the evil out of them? Do we wish to be more like them by learning about and dressing like and imitating them? Do we just want to try to understand them? I wonder. Personally it would be the last thing on earth for me to consider dressing like or playing the part of a member of the third reich, but I certainly don't disrespect others who do- I just wonder why? I think there must be something inherently compelling about the 'bad guy'- I just wonder what it is- Years from now will we see a similar interest in all things American? If so, I certainly hope its not for the same reasons...... Slainte! -G

IDK....... I think the model needs a little rouge to go with the lipstick..... Hey, what do you expect from a modern male mannequin? They are marketing everything to the "Metrosexual" man these days. Good luck finding a tough looking mannequin. He sure comes in handy for selling clothing & gear on Ebay though (I usually pull hats down OVER his eyes)!

Nice job, Alban. Like the others have said, not sure about the goatee, sideburns and light mustache. I'm a dark haired, non-Aryan bastard too, so I try to give a clean shave before I got out. See you tomorrow!

Looking good Aban! your almost there!
Some suggestions.... Put a cufftitle, breast and sleeve eagle on your tunic these are low cost Items that really make an impact for your impression
Eagle on your cap
Your Y straps are backwards as well as your belt the rear Y strap hook should go underneath your belt, look at the photos above of Flectarn above for proper wear of your Y straps.
make your next purchases A Zeltbahn, canteen, messkit and assault pack (you may need new Y straps for this though)
Lets see some footwear!

Roska-AMAZING pictures. I don't see why you can't be in the stitch knot thread if you manage to get to a more appropriate location!
