Drac, I don't want to speak for the event organizers, but I believe at least some people will not be staying in tents overnight and will instead be heading to hotels. They should be able to take at least some batteries with them and top them up overnight. Perhaps a protocol should be developed to make sure that we get as many batteries as possible charged (I'm going to have up to half a dozen battery-operated loaners just myself), and to ensure that people get their own batteries and chargers back the next day. If you are part of the hotel crew, then I'm sure your help with charging stuff for others will be greatly appreciated. As far as loaner stuff, I will try to coordinate with Migs and Nate to figure out just what the needs will be on that (taking into account we may have last minute walk-ons). We can chat/message before you come up to ensure whatever holes there might be in the stuff we have get covered. And thanks, BTW, for stepping up! I will be staying in a hotel with three others. So I'll be charging our batteries there. I can take on some batteries and try to do my best at getting them all charged. Anyone else staying in Hotels should pitch in as well. Also, I think players should do is put their names on their batteries and chargers to avoid any mix ups.

I'm willing to do so. I'll look into nearby and cheaper hotels. I'll also reply back here with room space.
Also, my idea is that anyone who has their own smart charger, to bring that and batteries in a pouch or bag with their name on it/them. I have two NIMH smart chargers and one LiPO smart chargers, but if I'm charging a lot of batteries, that might take into the morning. So, if any one else could lend their smart chargers with their batteries, I can easily charge a crap ton of batteries in a single night.

Hey, I just want to thank you all again for organizing and leading this event. It’s been months since I’ve had an opportunity to play airsoft mainly because of my weekends being occupied by a construction project at the home field. And, the last out-of-state WW2 event I attended was postponed on short notice after having already driven there. So, I’m utterly thrilled about the Battle of Aachen! Your hard work, thorough communication, and steadfast commitment are greatly appreciated. I’m confident that we’ll have an impressive turnout and an exhilarating experience. It will be an honor to meet everyone and learn from you about the gear, formations, tactics, terminology, and culture of that fascinating time in world history.

You have great first band experience with handling large turnout and appreciate the effort that goes into organizing, promoting and holding an event. I think you'll get jazzed at the ambiance created by full and thorough impressions along with some ideas on how to take your WW2 themed event to the next level. It will be great having you and some of your buddies there!

Money and Registration Sent! I am so looking forward to this game, It will be great to see you all again!
So..who is camping out? I am bringing my Zelt and my cooking gear. Also I am bringing some firewood. I'll most likely need someone in the hotel crew to help charge my batteries back up thanks for offering that.

Hey guys, been meaning to check in lately. I'm really getting excited for this event! All is going well, and there should be plenty of new faces in attendance.
A few things I would like to mention.
Firstly, with all the new guys coming out I figured it would be a nice touch to have some civilians as well. I am coordinating with a local team to help out in that respect. A big thing is weaponry for them. I have a decent amount of weapons to loan but I feel that bringing as many as possible to act as backups or possible loaners for any unexpected participants the day of. Murphy's Law, what can go wrong will go wrong. Backups backups backups.
Secondly, I am looking into the possibility of power on site for charging batteries. I highly doubt the assembly area has any source of power, but a small generator is my second option and the most likely. If it is, anyone that needs to charge their batteries and is camping out, you can have full use of the generator to charge, I just ask that you chip in a small donation to help cover the cost of gas (couple gallons overall used at most) for its use.
Thirdly. I highly suggest everyone brings a small duffle bag or period bag to the field. We will be setting up camp in the assembly area just off the field for camping out overnight. I will be setting up each sides base on the field and putting all your essentials that you need into one bag to leave at your side's CP durring the game is the best bet not to lose anything should the fighting continue into the dusk when it may be hard to locate all your gear laying around CP not in your bag.
Really looking forward to seeing all you guys again! This should be a good one!

I want to avoid that period in the game where everyone seems to take a break and goes to their cars to re-load and change batteries. I know the battery part is sometimes unavoidable due to the cold. But all ammo should be brought into the field of play. And big thanks for bringing the generator Nate!

Camping is a GO! Just got the confirmation from the field that this will be allowed. Details: 1) Players will be allowed to arrive on Friday for set up and overnight camping for both Friday night and Saturday night. 2) Camping will be in the parking lot area. The location is right next to the parking lot. 3) Nate (Brownien) will be at the field Friday night and will be in charge of coordinating camp locations for both U.S and German sides. 4) Nate still has 5 spots available in his GP 8 man heated tent. Spots are on a first come first serve basis. There is a fee of $5.00 per night to cover the fuel costs. 5) Anyone who wishes to reserve a spot, please PM Brownien or myself. 6) Right now it appears we will be having a Post-battle meal on Saturday. This too will be in the camping area. All players are welcome. 7) Anyone that has any questions regarding the camping, please contact Brownien via PM.

Alright, time for my big update!
I'm all registered with Migs. Going in as German for both days.
Also, I got a nearby hotel. One king bed. From Friday night to Sunday night. If anyone wants me to charge batteries over night, let me know. I even suggest I do that for Friday night, since the cold will hurt them.
Anyone who wants to crash in a hotel room, I'm sure I'll have floor space for up to two, let me know NOW and we can work out prices and such.

UPDATE: In lieu of the fact I won't have a good working bolt action in time, put me down as a Zb.26 gunner. I know it works extremely well. Also, Migs also asked me to be flexible, to be able to switch to US if sides are uneven (which means, holy crap, we actually have MORE Germans than we do Allies this time!!!). If that becomes the case, I'll be a standard US Leg Infantry with a Garand.
Also, since its the monday before the event, I URGE anyone that needs loaner gear, guns, camping gear, cold weather gear, anything, from anyone, to say so NOW! Outside of a helmet for OMEGO, I'm only going to be bringing extra M1 Carbines and mags.

Thank you, Dracul, for allowing me to try out one of your loaner helms. I’m confident that your modification will significantly improve the WW2 events at my home field without costing too much. Everything appears to be coming together nicely for Aachen. I’m hopeful that we’ll see a decent number of regulars from the host field plus some new players who will be won over by this type of immersive airsoft. Even though it’s six days away, I’ve already started packing the car. WAAAAAAAY TOOOOOOO EXCITED! Also, as you can see, we’ll have the ability to recharge batteries while on the field. However, it’s possible that this advanced technology will only be located at the Gefechtsstand.

I will be setting up each sides base on the field and putting all your essentials that you need into one bag to leave at your side's CP Hey Brownien, I understand that you guys are still in the process of finalizing the event time schedule and scenario details, but are you able to disclose anything basic yet such as the specific locations of each side’s CP, please? Linked HERE is the most detailed map that I could find on the net and is matched with an equivalent satellite image. Please share the field base names or grid coordinates of where our command posts will be. If OPSEC precludes this, please feel free to PM me with the loc of only the German CP. Thanks a bunch!

Omego-- not wanting to speak for the coordinators, but my understanding is that much of this will be decided on a field walk-through. This is the defense of the Reich! We need to be flexible!

To try and answer this as best I can, the campsites will both be in and around the staging area. Nate is in charge of that and will direct you when you arrive. As for the area of operation (AO) this will be worked out by each sides CO and on a need to know basis. (There is a reason for this being cloaked in mystery). But trust me when I say that the Germans will have ample time for defensive set up and the less the U.S. knows the better. And BTW, the maps you provided here are very much appreciated. Thanks, Migs

Updated Event Schedule Friday: All are welcomed to stop by the field and "dig in" for the event or just help out with field set up and construction. Nate Brown will be at the field late afternoon setting up camp. The Germans are welcomed to start with their defensive positions once they are given the location by Nate. Please take all necessary safety precautions in regards to camp fires, etc. Saturday: Arrivals may start anytime after 0730 hours, but everyone should plan on being at the field no later than 0830 hours. Registrations and payments will be accepted during this time. Everyone must check in at the registration table. Even if you camped out, I need everyone to check in for accurate head counts. During this time, everyone must use this time to complete their load out.
0900 hours: Safety and Event Rules briefings. You will be briefed on our rules of engagement, what is a hit and how we will use our medic/respawn scenarios for this event. Safety and sportsmanship requirements/expectations. Nothing to complicated, just need everyone on the same page. 09:45 hours: Event producer will meet with CO's from each side. 1000 hours: Germans and Allied forces will move into their AO and prepare for Battle.. A short time later, it's..... GAME ON!
At roughly 1600hrs or Dusk, game over. It will be at this point where we will go to our respected camp sites. A Chow line will soon follow for those interested.
I just felt it necessary to remind everyone of a couple of points/preparations that everyone should be made aware of. 1)Event producers will serve a stew or something close to that, so bring your mess tins. 2) Since it is highly likely that we will not be stopping for a mid-day break, I recommend that everyone bring with them adequate rations and water for this event. In an effort to re-create battle conditions, players will eat/snack at their own risk. You can find rations for both German and Allies at: reprorations.com/index.htm 3) It is also recommended that everyone carry w/ them either a FRS radio or a whistle. In case of injury, we want you to be able to notify us. If you carry an FRS radio and are not a CO or event coordinator, you can keep it off unless in case of an emergency. Hope everyone understands the importance of this. More on this at the safety briefing. One more thing. We are always looking for someone to volunteer to video this event. Please PM me if interested. Sunday's Scheduled will be announced at the field on Saturday. Joe Migs

Same here, I'm also afraid that since its nearing the winter season, that "late afternoon" means it will be dark in no time. Not a lot of time to set up at that point.

Having just held an event in sub freezing temperatures that had soms folks sleeping over in the field. Warm changes of clothing (especially socks) gloves and ample lights allowing you to function in the dark is critical. We had a couple warm chow occasions and that was huge and much appreciated. Plastic garbage bags are handy for keeping things policed up and are great at the end of the event for sticking muddy boots, gear and clothing in so your cars don't get thoroughly trashed.

Drac, the "late afternoon" estimate is because I can't speak specifically for those who are taking off of work or leaving work early to be there. I did speak with Nate last night and he said he will try and be there by 1PM. He may also take off the entire day and be there even earlier. Perhaps you can PM him and get his cell number if you don't have it already. Also, I'm sure if you do arrive before anyone else, the field manager should be agreeable in allowing you to get settled in. Drive safe and see you this weekend.
