Indeed. The sad reality is that German Diesel Cars really are fantastic and this pretty much kills them in the US even though if our purchase percentage was even close to Europe (ours is minisule) we would not have an energy crises and our collective CO2 and NOx output would be lower.
Sad that a regulatory department does not stay in alignment with its stated goals. Current Vw diesels are going to get hot!

My family was actually considering buy a new Jetta...so the only outcome Im hoping for is that whatever specifically needs fixing gets fixed and we can possibly get it at a discount lol.

Although the Diesel scandal shouldn't impact other VW sales it has! A VW dealer right now would be open and agreeable to just about any deal on any VW that makes sense. In the car business as with all commodities buy when no one else is buying and sell when everyone is buying. This situation (which will prove enormously costly to VW) will be short lived.
