I share with you an interesting collection of pictures showing one of the projects launched at the end of World War II by Germany as part of its war effort to try to avoid the increasingly Allied bombing. The big question remains whether this rocket plane had been built in greater quantities and earlier would have changed the final outcome? What do you think? Visit the link below, see photos and give your opinion about it. aviacaoemfloripa.blogspot.com.br/2011/01/uma-visao-incomum-nos-ceus-da-europa.htmlBest Regards.

It...What is that? I doubt it would have helped the war, all it could do, it looks like, would be strafing runs. It really doesn't look that useful and doesn't appear to have any way to engage enemy aircraft that might engage it.

Yikes! It no doubt had very limited range and appears to have been a one time use weapon as recovering and relaunch capability appears dubious. If placed in positions that would naturally disect bombing routes I could see that its speed alone might be an effective defense against fighter cover and the rocket pods if deployed against bomber formations could be devastating. There were so many advanced German "super weapons" but if they had been able to identify the ones with the greatest potential and focused resources on them. (Best example being the Me 262) they could have experienced greater success and made allied air dominance much much harder to achieve. Thankfully they didn't do that!

That was the Natter, en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bachem_Ba_349It was intended to counter allied bombers. Fast but very short flight time. They would have been launched as the bombers neared a target and try to make a run firing the rockets in the nose. There was no landing gear. Instead the pilot would deploy parachutes to bring down the core of the airplane and bail out himself. According to Wiki the only manned flight killed the pilot. Even if it had worked it would have been too late. Like von Rundstedt said after the Normandy landing was successful, "Make peace, you fools!"
