So, recently, I've been taking a look into what measures could be taken to create a catalyst for WWIIAA here in MI. To look for some help, I decided to visit the British WW2AA ( www.ww2airsoft.org.uk/ for those who are unfamiliar) and man was it different.
I believe that our British compatriots have a very well thought out and complete front page. After having talked with some people I've met at open days at our field, I concluded that most just are not willing to search out the right products by themselves and need guidance (which is understandable). On the front page of the British site, you will find multiple listings of upcoming and past events along with the most recent posts on the forum, and most importantly of all, a kit guide.
To discuss the first item on that short list, I think we might need to have a bit more material. But I think if we compressed the Event Locations to a simple board might be a good idea. Along with that, it could create bigger sense of community since all events and locations would be posted under that one board. If the Subforum could then be named Events it could also include an AAR section for written accounts of the action and a stickied picture thread for each event.
While the aforementioned cosmetic change would be nice, it pales in comparison to the Kit Guide. As you might assume it list the guidelines for every major nation in the war's basic kit. It also gives a detailed picture of each individual kit, so that any interested person might see what a "proper" uniform should look like. The guide also extends beyond the basic impressions into many of the branches of the military which fielded infantry divisions.
I know that this has been discussed in a previous thread, but we really need to create a comprehensive site that is nice looking and easy to navigate so new players won't be intimidated by the cumulative information of a decade or so!
We really have a great community here of kind and knowledgeable people and I believe that it's our mission to share that with anyone interested
