Here's a video from Forgotten Weapons, showing an M6 Tank Destroyer. The M6 is a 37mm AT gun mounted on a Dodge weapons carrier. It really shows how out of touch US ordnance was with developments in Europe, and then how desperate for weapons they were once the US entered the war, that they even considered this to be practical. The 37mm, copied from a German gun, was reasonably effective against most of the tanks of 1940. By the North African invasion they were largely obsolete. I've read that the Marines used some of these in the Pacific, where the 37mm was effective against Japanese tanks, but mostly the guns were used for bunker busting. www.youtube.com/watch?v=rMMRiAPh6Nw

The 37mm served well in the Pacific both in an Anti tank role and the weapon had an excellent beehive, antipersonnel round and HE round. It's small size and ability to be manhandled by a reasonable crew makes it a nice collectible. I have a friend who has one and he has participated in a few local airsoft events.
