Hi all,
this is a new tutorial for making a foam and latex weapon used in LARP.
This case is a trench casse-tĂȘte (head breaker ??) used in the WW1, specialy by english soldiers.
Even used for zombies or all you want to create.
First, the listing key (from left to right) :
- insulate foam tube, different size
- rod of composit (not fiber glass, never metal, never wood, may be carbon)
- liquid latex
- neoprene glue
- foam board (used in sport)
- plastic soft pipe
First, I take an old tool handle, with a bit of turning.
A bit of glue
Cutting the edge for having the right lengh. Be carreful with dust and fiber of composit.
I use the pipe for having a bigger diameter.
The pipe must be taller than the rod for protecting player whitch can be hurt by the hard rod.
Blank assembly for seeing proportions.
Dissassembly for gluing with white glue (wood glue). Let dry.
Gluing the foam. Open it and apply neoprene glue inside the foam and on the pipe. Wait about 10min and press. Same operation with edges.
Same thing with the bigger piece and the end with the little blue one.
The shape is a bit damaged during strapping. Not a problem, heat can repair it, and also sanding.
Gluing false nails.
sanging foam for shapping.
The definitive shape.
I can start the latex with mixing latex, acrylic paint and water for having good visocosity (not too thick).
Use a cheap brush. Use a bit of oil on the bristle for during longer.
About 7-8 layers. Total arround 15. For the end use a acrylic varnish with a bit latex (2-3 layers).
Finished and painted by Zam.
