Hello everyone, new to this board. I've got a new, in box TOP MP40 I imported from Japan for sale. Thought I'd get into airsoft, but I spent way more time with real guns, so I never had time to play around with this. The MP40 had been sitting in the box for years, so I thought its time it finds a new home. This is a very nice full-metal replica, one of few limited production models by TOP. The body is actually made with stamped steel like the real thing, obviously aiming to create the look & feel of the original, from the texture to actual weight. The detail to this piece is second to none. Includes everything you see in the picture. The unit itself, including original manual, survey card... etc., MP40 pouch, a bag of BBs, battery and charger. What you see here is probably the last BNIB unit here in the US. I am located in California, Los Angeles County. Local pickup is ok. Shipping is fine, but its going to be on buyer's dime. Price: I originally paid $575 for it. However, I am willing to hand it over for $450 $400 OBO. Feel free to make an offer, I won't bite, and will consider all reasonable offers. Worst I can do is say no. PM all questions. Don't want to overwhelm the board with large images. Links provided instead. PM if you have questions. i1378.photobucket.com/albums/ah84/takcwal/Img_0721_zps0exnkymq.jpgi1378.photobucket.com/albums/ah84/takcwal/Img_0722_zpsdep0itze.jpgi1378.photobucket.com/albums/ah84/takcwal/Img_0723_zpszjdwhqiy.jpgi1378.photobucket.com/albums/ah84/takcwal/Img_0724_zpslfn87dao.jpgi1378.photobucket.com/albums/ah84/takcwal/Img_0730_zpsolukt0bp.jpgi1378.photobucket.com/albums/ah84/takcwal/1280px-MP_40_AYF_3_zpsp8tj5gwo.jpgi1378.photobucket.com/albums/ah84/takcwal/Img_0725_zpstxoyopyz.jpgi1378.photobucket.com/albums/ah84/takcwal/Img_0726_zpsehajzwcq.jpg

Welcome to the community of airsofters where both BUYERS and SELLERS need to beware. Insulting a potential community of buyers collectively is probably NOT a wise choice but if you have some specifically negative feedback about any transactions by all means post it in the scuttlebutt section.

Apparently not everyone is a flake! Glad you found a buyer!

Now now, I never said everyone was a flake, but I did have five commitments over this one gun, and all of them did foul-up.

lol - I purchased. And I did drag my heels (but it was unavoidable).
In my humble opinion, I find the TOP MP40/38 (hereafter referred to as the "MP40") as being, literally, the most faithful airsoft recreation extant of this iconic gun. As an avid collector with just over 30 years of collecting under my belt, I currently own no less than four makes of airsoft MP 40/38 in collection, including the SRC MP40/38 and the SRC MP 41 variant. SRC has always been considered as best in class in terms of materials used and fidelity to detail and they are very nice replicas indeed!! They are also now difficult to obtain. But I am/was very surprised that the SRC MP 40 is eclipsed by the TOP model in materials used and sheer authenticity. This likely explains why they sold for a pretty penny in Japan, when they were first released quite a few years back, something in the order of $550 (U.S.) at it's time of release! I can now see why.
And I learned also learned something else, which to me is even more surprising!; the gun shoots extremely well. Now I have always been biased against the 'bellows' system of propulsion, for no other reason than simply following the crowd in eschewing the top system in favor of the TM-based AEG-TYPE engine. Yes, the bellows system cannot be upgraded even remotely as well as an AEG-TYPE gun but frankly it operates pretty damn nicely as is and I suspect that since only TOP used the bellows system on the few gun models that company made there just was no financial sense for aftermarket companies to undertake the expense and resources to develope upgrade components for these guns due to the obvious 'dead-end' that this system type faced and went in favor of AEG-type airsoft guns (some interesting comparisons can be made to the old Sony Beta vs. VHS battles of the late seventies/early eighties although that's getting Off Subject and is a subject best left for another discussion).
Second is the common perception that the proprietary 'bellows' system is frail, not efficient, prone to early failure, catastrophic failure, etc., etc. Well, all I can say is that of all the bellow-system guns I've personally encountered in the hands of others (including owners of the TOP M60 model) there simply did not seem to exist stories/experience that evidenced/supported the failures so often alluded to in connection with TOP guns. One M60 owner/collector recently told me that his TOP M60 gave him FAR less trouble and was just as good in rote performance as his (admittedly stock) Inokatsu M60 E3 and functions 'as well today as it did when (he) purchased many years ago'.
As far as my 'new' TOP MP goes - I find that it shoots extremely well, at about 370fps, and has a smoothness of operation that is quite pleasant.
In any event, after I purchased this gun I did go to my Japanese auction site and found and purchased three unopened (NIB) mag clips and a equally new bellows replacement component for the MP40 (which comes as a self-contained unit that basically just drops-in) just to be on the safe side;)
Cheers

A friend and I both had TOP M60s which were both dramatically underpowered for a crew served weapon (both shot below 300 FPs w .20 gram.) Both ate their young after normal use and over the years I managed to buy a couple non functional TOP M60s which my son converted to conventional AEGs
The TOP m60 with its bizarre bellows system got a bad reputation because (in my opinion) it deserved it. As a replica however it was excellent. I suspect the system is much better suited in the role of a submachine gun.
TOPs attention to detail visually is excellent. The feed system in the M60 is what typically lead to their failure and the magazine system in the MP40 no doubt resolves that.
