The mp18 has been recently becoming increasingly popular with its inclusion in many video games such as battlefield one and call of duty ww2 and in future installments such as battlefields V that takes place in ww2. The fact that not just ww1 but many ww2 games are including the mp18 as a smg option for the Germans instead of just the mp40 justifies the demand for an mp18 to be produced for the airsoft world. The mp18 is very flexible loadout wise that was used by many military forces during the first half of the 20th century such as China, japan(type 100 clone), and even Britain(Lanchester). I wouldn’t be surprised if the Viet Cong had some in their arsenal. Over 4 years ago SRC announced they would release an mp18 but failed on their promise. Now with the mp18’s sudden increasing popularity and with 2018 being the 100th anniversary of the revolutionary firearms introduction and marking the closing for the Great War, now would be the best time to release a long awaited classic.

Could be any reason. WWI not being popular enough, maybe not enough space for a gearbox and/or would need its own gas system, the WWII use was only German Police use, and even the Lanchester SMG was only used by Royal Navy and airfield guards for the Royal Air Force. i.e. the most iconic use was in late WWI.
Not to sound negative, but it might not happen for awhile now. WWII has been gaining popularity only recently, even with BF1 and the centennial of the Great War, it might be awhile before any WWI-iconic guns get made.

I appreciate your feedback but I don’t think this s a mechanical problem. The mp18 has a somewhat similar layout to a ppsh and a sten. And the fact that many people who custom build mp18s using sten internals shows that this isn’t a gearbox issue in my opinion as the first mp18’s will be aeg most likely. Also, to add on your mp18 usage during ww2. Many early waffen ss units not just police were issued these firearms so these might make very good early war loadout. But yes your point still stands with ww1 only gaining recent popularity with centennial of ww1 coming to and end. But we can’t deny it’s increasing prevalence in ww2 games. Mp18’s and it’s clones are becoming increasingly popular in the ww2 video game scene.

I get what you are saying, but it was still limited in "iconic" use. If you look at all the guns being produced over the recent 3-4 years, its been like they have been catching up on all the other iconic guns from WWII. Finally getting Japanese guns, higher quality main service rifles, even Shoei dropping a G43, etc. Not saying that we aren't getting one, just will be awhile before we do.

That shoei G43 took them 2 years :^) they said they are doing a Fg-42 next, but S&T is releasing a gas FG-42. Which then could be conceivably upgraded to daytona gun.

The MP 18 is a pretty obscure gun relative to a lot of other more mainstay weapons I would like to see made available. I however am a fan AND buyer of ANY WW2 era airsoft gun (if its skirmishable and reliable) so naturally I'd love to see it. That said there are easily a half dozen guns Id rather see first.

I would think any manufacturer who did make the MP18 would get the basics for three guns out of it - the MP18, the MP28 and British Lanchester. The MP28 is an MP18 with the Luger drum magazine feed removed and a stick magazine feed replacing it. The guns other wise are identical. The British Lanchester SMG is almost a direct copy of the MP28 so you could have to two guns with the basic features the same but with minor cosmetic changes. In fact the STEN gun magazines which are used in the British Lanchester will also fit and function in the German MP28. The STEN gun magazine was copied from the design of the MP28 magazine.

A manufacturer, octagon airsoft, is releasing a MP28, it was announced late last year. Here is link: www.switairsoft.com/product-page/octagon-airsoft-mp28I am sure there is more information out there as well. Also, there are some fantastic guides on how to convert sten SMG's to MP18/28's.

Very nice looking gun. It is cool to see some of the more obscure WWII era firearms come out in airsoft in recent years.
