As befits my age, I thought I'd put together a Home Guard impression. (Actually, I would be too old at this point for the Home Guard, but what the heck.) The uniform is a repro denim battle dress rather than the wool which was the usual issue for the early war. Unfortunately they don't come in "short, wide." Need a bit of tailoring. Also need a bayonet and scabbard, proper boots, and the correct ammo pouches. The pouches mostly used by the Home Guard were roughly square and seem to be hard to find and expensive. I understand that for the "Dad's Army" TV series they used binocular cases with the extra straps removed. The rifle is a Patten 14 deactivated drill rifle I found a few years ago.
