The weather here in the NW has been unusually gorgeous for several days now with blue skys and temperatures in the mid 70s. It is expected to continue through the weekend. We have 84 folks enrolled but always seem to lose folks with our typical drizzles. This weekend is going to be epic.

The weather pretty much held up. A few light drizzles on Saturday but mostly broken clouds with blue sky poking through. The event technically started Saturday morning but folks were giventhe option to show up Friday and over a dozen hearty souls did so. We had several military Vehicle club members show up butno Armor. (the hope was that we would have a White Scout car and half track. We did have several Jeeps and a Chevy 1/2 ton. The Germans had a Kublewagon and a couple Ural modified motorcycles withside cars and an old Ford truck painted Grey with tan and green splotches. Between my tentage and the Military Vehicle folks the camps looked impressive.
Game play was supposed to start ar 10:00 am but folks were still arriving and took time to get kitted out. Always an annoyance to me. We did allow those who were ready on time to deploy with limited predominantly recon missions. Full on operations didnt start till noon.
We had a chow break at 18:00 hrs as per the schedule and held mail call which is always a hit. We had a few missions after dinner all the way to dusk and a night assault on a small knoll for those eager folks still anxious to do so. My Mg42 is set up with a tracer unit at the hop up and I always love the way thise look. I have done Nam games where every player had a tracer unit and it is just too cool. One of the players shared a new tracer device that is not much bigger than a Thompson Cutts compensator and even in day light simulates muzzle flash.
Of the 84 players who were on hand 20 or so were in the night assault. Sunday we still had most participants on hand and gameplay and breakdown was at 15:00 hrs on Sunday. Im beat and have lots of cleanup and inventory to take. About 15 players were outfitted and mostly armed by me. It was the first WW2 public event I've done where all weapons were period correct if you count conversions.
We avoided the usual formations due to Covid its nice to be vaccinated and see things slowly getting back to normal.

This was my first opportunity to issue out the five simple springer conversions I made. Garands and G43s. No complaints from the renters. Compared to AEGs they obviously had a tough go but given over 1/3rd of the players were using bolt actions or my basic carbine springers they were in the game and got some eliminations. Spare mags would have been nice! The carbines as always were a big hit. The bolt action Kar 98 conversions (I have 6) enjoyed better range and accuracy but truthfully the simple springers had better rates of fire keeping muzzles downrange easier which often works better.
No breakages or damage. One of the Bar98s developed a slam fire issue but I had a spare trigger box so a 5 minute fix. Several players had S&T or ICS Garands and Kar98s and all performed brilliantly.

Sounded like a lot of fun and a much needed one at that!

A little drizzle just adds to the ambience. Sounds like a good event.

I'll be cleaning up stuff for a week but it was an excellent event. Probably 1/3 to nearly a half of the participants would categorize themselves more as reenactors than airsofters.
