Still going through video! Robert’s camera did a awesome job of filming the night battle for the Dak To SF camp! More to follow! I think the Tunnel Rat mission was pretty unique! youtu.be/ycRBgLuOW3Uyoutu.be/zce6yUQhDcA

Your AO looks remarkably lush for that side of the mountain.

Last video and I will leave you guys alone. 🤣 I built a 6 ft Estes rocket for the downed pilot mission. Unfortunately after the chute deployed the wind caught it and it sailed away off property. It was a nice visual for the recon team operating in the AO. youtu.be/U3aWPb4Oeqs

I have 5 full on PRC 25s set up with handsets that operate on GMRS. You are invited to use them for any of your Nam events.

I have tons of suitable property! Everyone loves the Liberty canyon videos I show them but no one has the time and or money to go to Vermont.

This weekend is the AShau Event in Vermont. They'll have 150 players. Their main base camp is complete with excellent tentage. Bunkers all around, a tower and of course they have a fabulous turnout of vehicles including Jeeps a mule, a couple 3/4 tons several deuce and halfs and a 5 ton gun truck that is awesome. The showpiece is an M57 which is an older but larger predecessor to an M113. Nick Diez. the host puts a of work on his Nam events (it's a full time job). I'm trying to convince him to branch out into WW2 for his non Summer season so he can optimize his property and a lot of his props.

Mostly due to heavy populations to draw from. Interestingly in spite of the dense population centers there are also large areas of rural property relatively close to the population centers. So California is the same way. but the terrain is typically not lush enough to simulate Western Europe or Vietnam.

Roger Muller and I participated in a Cimmerian Airsoft event years ago in the Sequoias, it was fairly green, and for me the highlight was Saturday night a Green Beret came out with a projector and we watched a Hmong documentary he had made showing their plight in the years following the war. Very sad. I don’t remember his name unfortunately. But SF formed very close ties with their adopted hill tribes.

youtu.be/p2yOH2yRMqkRan into Bob’s interview on YT. He lives in Coeur D’ Alene. Any pointers to introduce him to Airsoft? Be great to get him out.

I saw a nam war photo recently that looked like, I dont remember what, but I DO remember strongly feeling that it didnt look like the kind of things I expect to see in a vietnam war photo. It seems like it was interesting rock outcroppings sort of like down in the southern utah desert.
With regard to getting Mr. Bob to play airsoft, tongue firmly in cheek starts now; Perhaps you could clandestinely arm the local indigenous tribe (neighborhood kids) with gel blasters or nerf guns and then orchestrate an altercation, ideally with a slightly older group of nearby neighborhood kids. Seeing the younger local forces hard pressed in battle against an older group might awaken even the most reclusive Vet to dust off that ol' green beret and train some indig's "one last time". I suppose that wouldn't really help get him into airsoft per se, but I think its a fun story...

Big jungle and big lizards. My perception was very tropical and I am sure much of it is. But I’ve been listening to John Stryker Meyer on the Jocko podcasts. He was Mac V SOG in Laos and he talks about mountains so big and steep you had to be careful. And that he always brought a sleeping shirt because the nights would get cold. I am sure if you were on the Mekong your experiences would be vastly different. Most of Vietnam is a narrow coastal plain the is paralleled by the Annamite mountains that terminate at the Mekong delta. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Annamite_Range#/media/File:Chaîne_Annamitique.png

Hey, if you see it on Youtube, it must be true. Here's a video about two aspects of SEALs operating in Vietnam. First, the use of the RPD44 LMG. Second, SEALs wearing blue jean in combat. I've heard of the first. From what I understand special forces and Rangers used captured weapons with some frequency, as mentioned in the video the distinctive sound an AK or RPD made would confuse the VC and North Vietnamese. Works for a unit that's out by itself and there's no friendly to mistake them for the other side. I've read that in WWII US troops would sometimes use battlefield pickup MP40's, but they'd cut a few coils off the recoil spring to change the sound. RPD44's with cut down barrels were also popular with Rhodesian special forces during the Rhodesian bush war, for the same reason. In an ambush you pointed and sprayed. The second part, wearing jeans in combat, I've never heard about. I guess he has a point, they're very durable. And the color doesn't really matter at night or once they get dirty. Still, wet jeans are heavy and take a while to dry out. www.youtube.com/watch?v=2owy9qQ8y7U

I am having problems with my links. Dunno.
Nick Brokhausen cared a cut down RPD in MAC V SOG.
And Jocko Willink is manufacturing DELTA 68 blue jeans in honor of Nam SEALS. I follow his podcast.
