My head almost exploded when you read the original questions, as these questions to me are like asking "what kind of weapon is a 'Garand'?" I have crewed historic artillery for most of my life, crewing everything from a Rev war 2 pounder to a WW2 coastal gun and everything in between. I grew up in a family that had it's own M1841 six-pounder, hand built by my Dad before I was born!
But having gone through a lot of "call for fire" exercises and having called in real rounds in training with Uncle Sam, I have to point out that Danger Close is not a fixed distance for all munitions. It varies for the type of ammunition being fired and the situation for it being used. For 60MM motor rounds for example, it's a lot closer than, say, Naval gunfire and a LOT closer than aerial-dropped ordnance. And if you're dropping indirect fires to cover an advance (a "walking barrage" they used to call it), Danger Close varies there as well as it can move on faster than your advance or you might walk right into your own fires.
stuka: well the forum is and should still be useful for updates on guns, creating groups/events and building kits

Dracul: I think Redwolf has a Enfield. If not or not longer, then not until G&G releases theirs. The old gas Iron Airsoft brand SMLE isn't carried by anyone anymore and was such piece of crap. Not worth trying to track one down.

ajman: I don't think there's gonna be anything in northern New England anytime soon, and as far as I know there hasn't been in a while, but if you're willing to drive to Connecticut there's usually some decent sized battles a couple times a year.

boz: Happy 4th all, despite pandemic! I'm looking for a boneyard S&T Springfield M1903A3 for a beta test on retro conversion to A1 or Mark 1 (WW1) configuration. Pop me a message if you've a broken S&T (or G&G, or Apple Soft) M1903 you wish to unload.
