Recent purchases.. Found at a antique shop, Westinghouse WWII liner. The straps look dark green, but it is OD color. Leather strap is damaged, the other piece is not in the pictures. Added the insignia.. ;D Seems like a victory pin, back says "Republic of China", "8 years struggle", "given by the Chinese 5th Army". Serial numbered too, most likely awarded to an American. Order of the Cloud and Banner 6th class. Most likely awarded to an American for their assistance to China.

Finally got my helmet + liner from Ebay so I was able to add stuff to it Front seam Swivel bale, with ATF chinstraps and sweatband, WPG net and a surplus 45th division patch(That I put some mud/dirt on to help mute the shiny-ness). I still need to sew on the shell chin straps. Random bit of something lol. I also have allot of other stuff, but I'll post them when I post my impression.

Ed,
You always seem to find the coolest stuff! The Haversack you asked about is a Marine Corp M1941 pack. It was a two part system not unlike the Army one that followed but instead of a single panel more traditional flap the Marine Corp pack was a longer tube shape that allowed the excess to fold over. It was a more flexible design than the Army one which looks similar and is fairly common. The Marine Corp pack is a bit rarer and can be seen in three primary variations. The early early ones are Khaki and are typically fairly valuable. The most common ones are the OD color like you have. Finally there is an OD nylon one which was still being issued during the Vietnam war.
Occassionally you see the full systems Upper haversack, lower pack and straps for sale on Evil Pay and they tend to bring a lot for the whole system. ($150.00 or so) The jungle pack you show is likewise quite rare (in nice shape) and can be worth $100 +. The camouflage ones get really really stupid when they are in nice shape.

Slowly building my semi-fictional Major Konig (Enemy at the Gates) impression: Burgmutze cap from Spearhead with aluminum Jager Division badge, Knights cross with swords, mounted Officer's collar tabs. Also a Russian 41 leaf pattern sniper/scout suit from Trident
