Thanks for the compliment 2nd bat, also I am not building the air cannon just the actual flak 88 and my friend who is an expierienced pneumatic cannon builder is building the actual cannon. Also Nimlas, My pak 40 was what my intentions were for my smaller, puny, wimpy air cannon I tried to make. Which I believe I posted a video for. And all of you dont have to worry bout me Im going to have a pro makin this for me. And Im just gonna shoot powder rounds or (Blank artillery rounds) for effect. Again thanks for the concern but Itll be safe for both me and the players.

Your welcome and I cant wait to get this thing running. Though my last problem stands, is there a place where I can buy gears? I want to attach knobs and such to adjust the angle and rotate this huge thing.

I would look at some junk yards for gears.

hey guys. i was just forum hopping and i happened to see this topic. my 2 largest hobbies are airsoft and , realistic airsoft cannons. my dad, who is now about 60, participates regularly in civil war reenactments and i build their cannons. btw, im getting quite tired of the people who doubt the strenght of pvc.(no offense.) but pvc can hold up to 220 psi and at 200, i have launched a nerf screaming football 700 yards. im not kidding 700. id be willing to work up some designs for you about the shell ejection. i have done this w/ my miniature "paris gun".
also, flour is great, cheap, but if the bag doesn't break on contact w/ the ground, it goes NOWHERE. but my friends and i have tested before about half of a ziplock sandiwich bag full of flour point blank at about 100 psi. no pain. also, if you're that concerned, just use popcorn kernels or frozen peas. not bbs, they cost way too much and they're too light. id love to help make this gun or give you some plans, so just give me some feedback on it.

As some may know about my construction of the Flak 88 ive created the barrel, but Im working my way to the base which is my main concern. I still need to create that half cone shape base that connects to the 4 legs. I dont think a flower pot will have the strength to hold the cannon. It weighs about 150 lbs. I need to be able to rotate it. Any HELPFULL suggestions will be much appreciated no criticisms please!
Thanks Schutze

What about a metal oil drum cut in half and some how made into a cone like shape. That will a done of work but it would hold the weight.

Hey Does anyone know how I can make my Flak 88 rotate in circles and up and down using a wheel like in the pic above? (they're the black ones on the side) I just want to make it able to stay in fixed positions that I want it in.

Probably some kind of hand krank or just put it on a rim or something with ball bearings on it where they wont fall off then have holes in the sides to put a screw or something to lock it in place. Just brainstorming.

That seems like a good idea just would anyone be able to help me make it work? As soon as thats done I can finally make the stand, and does anyone know how I can make the flak gun hold the mosscart shell, so when you push a bolt in it then pushes the firing pin of the moscart shell?

hey, sorry I have been inactive for a while, but maybe if you just put a small mechanism similar to a spring pistol with the firing pin on the end, you could pull a trigger, or a string. If not that, then have a cylinder with a spring inside and while you pull back on the spring, you insert a insert a pin that can be pulled by a string, and the spring inside is rigged up with a firing pin.

It's a great looking prop. Does it also function in some way?

Purely static at this point. Do you require upgrade specs on it? It was at Broadsword.

Nah, either way its cool. The thread was about props but then it spent a lot of time talking about working artillery. Then the thread petered out and was resurrected by the Nebelwerfer built by Savoy6. That's what led to my question as to whether it was a prop or a working airsoft artillery piece. It's still beautiful and I suppose you guys are already thinking if it could be better and may have plans for it.

No as impressive as the Russian armored car at Patton though. I really liked it wish it would have been running that would have been really cool for you guys.

Holy Crap, that nebelwerfer is sweet! The big question is though, is it pointed at your house or your neighbors?

The "Screaming Meamie" cart looks terrific. I recognize the midget spare wheels and tires from what looks like a Mazda Pickup which are great to use. (Inexpensive, a great size and relatively available and affordable.) If you could fabricate mosscart launchers in each tube you'd have a frightening weapon for either Nerf rockets or popcorn launchers. Yee Haw!!!!!
Obviously it's great for photo ops and as an objective. Very very nice job. Does it roll well enough to be towed? At least for short distances?

I wouldn't tow it behind a car but it does come apart easily enough to get it in the back of a pickup.

btw, im getting quite tired of the people who doubt the strenght of pvc.(no offense.) but pvc can hold up to 220 psi and at 200, i have launched a nerf screaming football 700 yards. im not kidding 700. Get as tired as you want. I wouldn't trust PVC for anything other than a potato gun. I've seen too many people make lightweight mortars out of the stuff and using black powder (granted, not what you're talking about in your post). I watched three guys at an event years ago blow up a tube with a lightweight black powder charge on a PVC mortar tube, and it looked like a grenade had gone off between them afterward. One guy didn't walk for several months and is lucky to be alive today. I grew up crewing Civil War artillery, I've fired almost every kind of big gun in existence and I would never, EVER make anything other than a potato gun out of PVC. BTW, this is what I grew up shooting:

I wouldn't trust pvc for anything other then "potato guns" either. I've known the stuff for a long time working in our family hardware store, and too much pressure or powder load will make it very dangerous. In fact, its not worth risking sharp shreds literally in your face (seen it happen) just to spend a few extra bucks by skimping out on metal tubing. If you're willing to spend a good deal of money on a "heavy weapon" or "artillery piece", then theres no good reason not to shell out a few extra washingtons. PVC piping is made for certain things, and weapons other then "potato guns" aren't on the list.

quite right on the wheels 2nd bat....15 inch truck donuts...not quite as big as the issue wheels but they look the part.unfortunately, like a dumbass i got a 4 lug one and a 5 lug one so i had to make two different hubs for it..lol....the tubes themselves are the 6 inch PVC pipe with the spacers made from 1/4 inch pvc sheet that i made at work....
