Clearly if rubber knives are going to be used as such, specific engagement rules have to be created, clearly understood by everyone and followed correctly. Ranger kills are part of the fun and in my book rubber knives are a cool part of the fun. Naturally it's not my intent or wish to see mock simulated hand hand to hand combat take place. Simple touches or taps with the blade to simulate a close in kill.

I know this doesn't really have to do with the rubber bayonet but its things like this that make me not like the idea... not trying to start a fight or nothing again... just showing you why i am not so trusting www.recoilmag.com/news/civil_war_re-enactor_0403.htmlThat is a scary thought, what if he had missed and shot a person... Doc Butzen Lol, that's an awesome article. "more effectively demonstrate the severity of a fifty-eight caliber Minie Ball wound." Next event I'm getting Dakota and Shutze to shoot me with 8mm Mauser in the arm, Nick can patch it up, and then I'll fly back east so Jack can hack it off. Brilliant!

Has anyone heard from him recently? I'm trying to find out how much it will cost to get an M1 Garand bayonet and M3 Trench knife shipped to the UK, and he hasn't replied to my e-mails. Can anyone help? Nick Anyone?

I think he's gone out of business. The last time I tried to buy some more rubber bayonets from him he was a long time responding and finally sent an e-mail saying he had been ill. I have bought several of the bayonets from him and have been pleased with them. I also got some excellent replica scabbards from a lady that sells them on Ebay. Between the two they cost as much as originals but obviously have the advantage of not being so danagerous on the end of a rifle.
He also had some rubber "Brass knuckles" that were kinda cool. Hopefully he's alright and will be back at it eventually.

I ordered a fighting knife and a KABAR and recieved a reply this AM that he was making them today. He makes a K98 bayonet. The pictures looked good. When I get them I will give you a review.

I recieved my knives today the realism is very good. I have extensive E.R. experience and with any kind of comman sense I think they would be very safe. I just stabbed myself in the fore arm, and at 63 my skin is fairly fragile and "gasp" I managed to draw a drop of blood. The point is sharp. I'll probably add some lead to the hilts to give them some weight and paint the hilts dark brown. In my opinion a good return on my investment.

Recently ordered the M3 and some of his fuses from him. Shipped promptly so he is still in business. And the quality is as good as ever.

It's important to note that a rubber bayonet can still be very dangerous. Most of them are cast in a harder type resin, and given the right velocity one of those things can puncture skin or cloth.
I think the safest thing to do is NEVER fix a bayonet during a reenactment or airsoft game. Far too risky and completely unsafe.

Im not a fan of them, seems like it could confuse someone, i know if i see a guy with a bayonet coming at me, or any knife during a reenactment, expect me to run or to fight back. During a reenactment i dont think it would be good to use a rubber bayonet, some guys might confuse them for real knives or bayonets, then he may knock the daylight out of the attacker with the knife. Just my two cents. -Nick

Keep in mind reenactments are all pre-planned so the person your "scheduled" to kill will know its safe. So that broadens the fighting style in reenacting which I think is good. But Airsoft may be unsafe. Im not saying its good to sneak up on someone with a rubber knife but if its preplanned and discussed I see no harm.

or publicly announce to everyone that you are carrying a rubber bayonet and might possibly use it

Knife kills with rubber knives are quite common around here and nationally from what I have seen. Some people dig it some people hate it.

The idea of a rubber knife is far less scary to me than a fixed rubber bayonet. It doesn't have the extra weight of the rifle to punch home. Back when I did Great War reenacting we had a guy who was former Airborne (in the real world) who loved going over the top at night and dropping into an allied trench with his knife. It was great. Chris would disappear and 30 minutes later we'd hear all kinds of ruckus in the allied trenches as they tried to root him out. Great fun that was!

I got me M3 knife and Bayo today, a bit to soft mabye, and to bad you can't lock the bayo on the garand, if you stick it on hard enough it stays there for a while but I doubt it will stay there while you're running in the forest
2nd Bat, what did you use to fill the Bayo with to make it stay on the garand

.... rubber bayonets are stupid .... a guy was almost stabbed to death by charge someone with a rubber bayonet, guy dropped him and pulled out a REAL m3 knife... and honestly... if someone charge me with a bayonet i don't care if its rubber or real... I will drop that idiot hard and give him a few blows to the face because in the world we live in you can't trust that they don't have a real one... and your natural reflex tells you TAKE THAT FOOL OUT COLD! I agree totally. I'm reminded of a WW1 re-enactment I was at years ago. With a large group of doughboys, I was in our trench line when a German night charge came across no-man's land. We could only see them from the flashes of the flares going up, when one of the guys near me yelled, "Holy $%*#, they've got fixed bayonets!" We were all groggy, this being past midnight. The front row of Germans had rubber bayonets but didn't tell anyone and we couldn't tell in the night. Keep in mind that we'd already heard rumors of someone being stuck a few months before by a bayonet at another event. What resulted got UGLY. Guys were either jumping out and running to the rear, or were standing their ground and quickly (and painfully) showing the Germans the butt ends of their M1903 rifles. I'll never forget a "German" who yelled from the bottom of a trench, in a think Jersey accent, "Hey man, get offa me, what is ya doing?" I heard of a similar occurrence at another event that summer, a "Marine" with a trench shotgun and a plastic bayonet got his clock cleaned by a German in a trench in the same fashion.
