hey all i just had a small idea on the gas system of the garand so bear with me. at www.arniesairsoft.co.uk/?filnavn=/reviews/m870/../3psa_co2_adapter/3psa_co2_adapter_review.htmthere is a co2 conversion external tank look at the pic and you will get the drift. now the idea is for those that don't want an external because it takes the realism away so here i go if u look at the pic of the co2 holder its not that big i am guessing the buttstock of the garand is pretty big right so if your skilled with your hands get a dremmel and slightly hollow the buttstock of the garand get a new hose shorter prob then drill a hole right before the trigger mech and run the hose to the fill hole. if it works then your running co2 canisters which hopefully last longer and all u do is pull it out and drop a new canister in. just something to feed some thoughts justin

I'm really debating getting the Garand, but i'm wondering whether or not British weather will effect it's power. Around 6 to 10 degrees in winter, and if we're lucky 25 to 30 degrees in summer.

I had one of those external tanks on a shotgun. #1 they are pretty heavy, and #2 they are HUGE. I thought about hollowing out my shoty, anf it just isn't an option.

If you are considering that buy a 12 gram adapter from someone like CCI they make a gun called the Phantom they make good quality stuff and get a Palmers Low pressure regulator that way you can fine tune your FPS. The one you showed says it is set to 70PSI You can do the setup like Gordak mentions and still use a 12 gram adapter but not sure how many shots you will get out of a 12 gram.

Any gas gun is greatly influenced by weather . They shoot "hotter" in warmer weather and in some cases won't function at all if things get too cold. The UK doesn't generally experience huge extremes in temperature so only on very cold days would you find it completely unusable
(45 degrees and below) With that said you will have fluctuations in performance even in the course of a single days outing. because hop up needs to be adjusted according to the weight of your Bbs and the speed with which the BB is coming out I found myself frustrated by constantly having to fiddle with the gun in order to feel comfortable with the flight of the BBs. That and the guns are just plain persnickety even in great weather. I have sold all of my gas guns (two garands, my grease gun and two carbines) as I've decided they are just not worth the hassle and effort. I still have some gas blow back pistols simply because AE pistols just don't offer the performance yet. As soon as they do my GBB pistols are gone too. I have become a huge fan of AEGs.
The Marushin garand is a great plinker and show piece but in my opinion not practical for skirmishing in a large venue with alot of players unless of course they all have bolt action rifles or equally persnickety gas guns!

The Marushin airsoft gas blowback is already a real wood gun. It's got a Walnut finish but is in fact an ash. The wood and amount of steel used on the gun is quite impressive. It's a very good looking and very well done replica. I can see no reason one would want to replace the wood used with actual walnut.
The tolerances on a real garand stock are not identical (fit and especially in the trigger housing assembly) so it would require some tweaking and modification not the least of which would be hollowing out the stiock to accomodate the battery. I have done a couple of actual Garand stocks for use on my Auto Electric Garands and it's a lot of work. I ended up being less pleased with the look and functionality and have since stopped doing it.

???I have a question about the M1 Garand, how do you fill the gas up? Because I dont want to take all of the gun apart to fill it.

Using 134 gas you squeeze it into the little valve at the base of the garand in front of the trigger assembly. You press it in until the liquid bubbles out. Be sure you have a clip in the gun when you do so or it'll all simply leak out and you'll waste gas. Once the gas chamber is filled allow it to sit for a while so the liquid becomes an effective propellent. (two to five minutes depending on outside temperature) Now you're ready to shoot. If you're very careful and take some time between shots you might get 4 or five clips of ammo out of the gun before you have to gas the gun up again. (40 Rounds) reloading clips (even with a great deal of practice is difficult and takes about three times as long as a real steel Garand to reload each 8 round clip. The good news is you'll never get M1 Thumb with it. If you've done everything perfectly and the screws are all properly tightened and haven't worked loose (which they seem to do about every 100 rounds unless you loctite them all) the clips will almost always eject like their supposed to after your eight rounds are spent. Otherwise the gun will jam and you have to clear it. (probably while under fire!) If that sounds like alot of hassle and pretty unrealistic, seriously consider another gun purchase.
This is truly not a gun for everyone. I wish it were but it's not.

What do you think about the CL Airsoft Surgeon 330fps upgrade for the M1? It lets you use HFC22 (Green Gas). Do you think it is worth the extra $150? Thanks for the help.

I'm not familiar with it as I sold both of my Marushin gas guns and have been focusing and building my Electric versions which of course aren;t as authentic but at least work consistently and effectively enough to skirmish with. Perhaps others on this board have puchased it and have experience with it. Hopefully it works well. The guns are great fun when they work.

simple answer, you wont. Also spell check, my god. You definitely wont get an aeg one for that price, so mabye if you found a broken marushin at the real low end of the market then mabye, but a broken gun (or even a good marushin garand) is basically useless.
