Ok, I know there has been some talk about Mauser broomhandle pistols in the past, but I couldn't find one comparing the HFC and the Marushin. Due to my longtime interest in the historical Mauser pistol, I have decided to buy one, but am wondering which one to buy. I am cosidering either the Marushin Mauser M712 or the HFC C96 Box Cannon . I am looking for realism, and something to plink with in the backyard (and to practice my Han Solo-style quick draw )I am fairly sure the HFC is heavier and has more metal, but the Marushin looks nicer. What do you guys think? www.precisionairsoft.com/item703.htmwww.shortyusa.com/ (on shorty the HFC is approx half way down the gas guns page.)

For quality, go for the HFC. You can get a special edition (not sure if it is still for sale) that includes full trades, and if you can get your hands on this, do so!
The only problem with the gun is that it offers no blow back mechanism. As you probably know, a bar extends back via gas expansion which in turn cocks the hammer in the real gun; however in the airsoft version, there is no gas expansion and so you have to both cock and fire the hammer in the same trigger pull. These leads to a VERY heavy trigger which can in fact ruin your shot. If you are in fact going to simply plink in the backyard, than this is your gun. What's more, due to the high metal content, you can fan it really fast without worrying about damaging the hammer!

I have the HFC and as said, it is a really nice gun. With a 20 round magazine and a wood holster/stock attached I would find it a seductive weapon if I was a junior officer or senior NCO. It is light, for a sub machine gun (the real steel had a selector switch), and the model, although heavy, handles well. I am quietly waiting to see what is going to happen to the newest Marushin GBB with the full auto option. If you don't need full auto I'd go with the HFC. It's relatively in expensive and a fun gun to shoot
