Excellent. I look forward to it. I'm sure Udo would appreciate it as well. And if you guys make it to the April event, we can have a side-by-side comparison of your modded Dboyi vs. an Ersatzjack (or 3)

Can I "upgrade" the original spring myself too? I mean, get the spring out of the bolt (how is that done anyway???) and then lengthen it??

You can't just lengthen a spring, that will ruin it.

This is a general question about this rifle. Has anyone converted the plastic stock version to a wood stock version using an original/surplus stock? Also, has anyone come across a US based seller who is selling just the wooden stock upgrade? Thanks!

Can I "upgrade" the original spring myself too? I mean, get the spring out of the bolt (how is that done anyway???) and then lengthen it?? Ramon Taking the spring out of the bolt is very simple! First you should unscrew the safety. This is done by first removing the screw on the back of the bolt after turning the safety far enough to see it exposed. It should be a flathead screw and it will be longer than the hex screws. The two hex screws that hold the spring and piston in place should be removed after the flathead screw: BE Careful! Once your unscrew these the spring will spring out of the bolt. Now, As far as upgrading the spring. It was not easy as we didn’t have the proper spring. Also, you cannot simply stretch out any old spring or pop any old spring into the gun! We had to modify the spring guild to fit a higher tension spring into the gun. Anyway, Tonight we are fitting a tight-bore riffled barrel in the gun and maybe a better piston. I will also try and get chronograph results up later tonight.

Does only one bb fit in a shell? Yes On the spring issue. What kind of spring do you think it'll take? And would you replace the rubber cushiony thingy on the end?

Hey guys,
I got a dboys Kar98 today and had a few questions (maybe someone can help me out):
-Is there a way to release the cleaning rod? A number of people had written on here that it is possible to attach a bayonet, but there seems to be a problem when it comes to getting my two bayonets to fit over the cleaning rod. Any ideas/tips?
-Has anyone purchased a sling for their's yet and if so, how is the gun holding up? I want to get a sling, but the gun is quite heavy and the front band (can't remember its proper name) with the loop for the sling seems to move around quite a bit. It seems that the only thing holding it in place is the small plastic strip coming out of the H band. Any experience with this?
-Third, I remember reading a while back that someone was making his own shells for this rifle. I tried using the search feature and could not find that thread. Does anyone have the link or know any further info.?
Thanks!

What I did to fix mine was simply heat the plastic band and reshape it so that it fits properly into the little hole. You can also build up with some tape or cloth around the wood stock where the metal slides over. Cosmetically you cannot see the tape or the cloth. It also makes for a tighter fit. In the future I hope D-boy starts using the proper metal bands! As far as the chronograph results… they will have to wait. I get home after dark and only have access to a UV run chronograph. Also, the barrel is not at all easy to replace in the D-Boy! It is very specially made for the gun. I’ll post more information up when I get the chance.

Thanks for that little suggestion. It seems like a good idea to reenforce this ring. I think that you are refering to the plastic bar around 3-4 inches long that buts up against the loop ring and slips under the H ring. It almost seems like this bar is meant to be removed, because of the small circular tab that it has, which connects into the H band through that tiny hole. So is the bar removeable or something? I was also still kind of curious to hear if anyone knows how to remove the cleaning rod or get a bayonet on this thing. Thanks!

But yes, That is what I was talking about. And yes, it can be removed.

Ok, it took some blood, sweat and tears, but I managed to get the cleaning rod out (it screws out) and used a dremel to make enough room for the bayonet to slide on. I was able to release that plastic bar and it essentially releases the entire H band, bayonet lug, and cleaning rod. I am going to try and reenforce the back barrel band (one with the loop for the sling) this afternoon with some tape or something. I'll let you know how it goes. Thanks again!

At least it's good to know that the front barrel band issue was not unique to the model I received. Pretty sloppy if you ask me.

I would agree, but we did all decide to get this gun, and it is up to us to fix these little problems as they come up :-P. I managed to make the rear barrel band with the loop stronger by wraping some sealant-type tape around that area of the stock and then sliding the band over it. It is not visible and yet keeps the band from slipping around. I also stuck some of that tape under the two end of the plastic bar and that seemed to make the bar sit higher, which also helps to keep the band in place. Has anyone done anything with their bolt yet? The chrome-like color of it just doesn't appeal to me and kind of seems to stick out. I was thinking of painting it or something Any ideas? I should also add that my dremel came in handy for grinding down/smoothing out the sharp edges in the chamber that seem to rip the shells to shreads. Seems to work much better now.

Nick I'm leaving the Chrome the way it is. I'm glad the tape idea worked for you! Right now, i'm working on upgrades for the Gun. The barrel is tricky!!! But, the internals are built well!

Just thought that I would let you guys know that I painted the visible section of the bolt flat black and it looks considerably more realistic (at least in my opinion). I'll take a couple photos later for you guys to see. All in all, this rifle seems to be shaping up (just need some more shells now).

Lately, I have been trying to think about any possible way to create a clip system for this gun without changing the internals. I was thinking that maybe if one could secure one of the shells to the bolt assembly, maybe there would be a way to simply slip a clip (20-25 rounds) into the gun. Essentially the mechanism would need to be spring operated and literally push a bb into the shell and then slide back down as the bolt and shell slide over it. Has anyone else had any ideas? It seems like a long shot, but maybe there is a way.

Yeah, I own a Tanaka Kar98K G version. It is a solid gun and very well built. The magazines will fire, with green gas, at below freezing temperatures but at only around 400 to 450 feet per second. If you want a magazine fed gun it is a good choice. Although, the gun itself is expensive and so are the magazines. But it is well worth the cost.
Also, the spring powered Kar98’s made from the real stock etc. is also a very nice pieces!
But personally, I bought the D-Boy Kar98 because of the shells and realism of it. My ammo pouches on my web gear now have a purpose!!! And… I don’t have to wear G33 Magazine pouches on the web gear anymore! It makes for a more realistic impression. Plus, I don’t mind having to tweak and work on the gun to get it to be more effective, sharper looking etc.
And yes, it makes it a little more challenging to scrimmage with… however, I’m happy to simply get a tag out or two per game. That, and if you ask anyone that has played with me before, I’m stealthy and quick on my feet. Usually I get most of my tag outs by pressing the barrel of my gun snug against the back of my foe and ordering them to surrender.

Hi; A suggestion !! I tightend the screw on the rear of the trigger, slightly. This brought togerther the seam behind the bolt on top. I also have a question. What did you use to darken the stock to make it look so real ? And I know the buttplates were shiny steel, but was the disc on the stock also bright steel ?
