I'm looking forward to seeing thise film.
On a side note...has anyone seen that WWII mini-series on PBS? It's set on a British Island that is occupied by the Germans. I saw one episode and it was really well done. Anyone know the name?

I like the Thin Red Line (part of my WWII collection). I most like when Styles and his patrol went up the hill and took on that Jap Mg crew. Very intense and tiring. I could feel how drained that situation could really of been. The soldier w/ the .45....... I bet he's glad he took it.

my favorite is that and when they hit the main japanese camp just after that..that was a good melee scene..that would make for a fun airsoft game..

I also stumbled onto saints and soldiers in my local wal-mart. I liked it , and would recommend it.
The Series on PBS is called "Island at war" also highly recommended.
Last, I rented a movie called "The Bunker" which had the stupidest box art of nazi zombies but sounded interesting. I wasn't expecting much from it but surprisingly it had nothing to do with zombies. It's about a group of german soldiers giving in to their fears. worth a watch in my opinion.

Yea, I think I've seen Bunker, I bunch of germans soldiers are on the run from the Americans, and they come to a bunker, they all go into a tunnel, and think the Americans have a secret new weapon.
There is more than that, I dont want to give the movie's story away.

I really liked Saints and Soldiers The [CENSORED CENSORED CENSORED CENSORED] by the way and I happen to be one so that made it even more cool to me...I understand most people wouldn't care about that but I liked it. It was really well made I thought.

You know I saw a billboard for that move about a year ago and then I never heard about it again. My favorite scene in any WWII movie has to be in SPR when Tom Hank's character seems to blow up the tank with the .45

I liked Saints and Soldiers, watched it a few days ago. I especialy liked their grenade fight near the end. That was really funny, when one German threw a stick grenade, and it hit another German's hiding spot.

Its the begining stages of the battle of the bulge in the Ardennes forest. There wasn't much fighting becuase the allies where caught off guard and surrendered, or fleed (which brings us to the Malmedy massacre at the begining of the movie). So yeah, it basically was the battle of the bulge.

I loved it but i dident think the real people who escaped the malmedy massacure went on to fight there way back to the american lines.

Wasn't the story from Saints and Soldiers fabricated? I mean, i thought it was historical fiction.

ok thanks, I saw it on the history channel a while ago and enjoyed it. when i saw it on the history chanel they had guests on who said that it took place in the battle of the bulge during its early stages. I'm not sure if the story is actually true though.

I liked the movie. I actually know a few people who were in it. The German FJ sniper who kills the main chatacter (was his name Deacon? I forgot) for example....is a fellow AZ reenactor who I know.
The story was fabricated....the 101st was not in the area of the Maldemy Massacre (St. Vith and Malmedy). A reenactor asked the director why they chose the 101st (when it was incorrect) and he said it was because they are "well known". Who knows....maybe we can pretend they were "separated from their squad and were attached to anohther unit". Great movie nonetheless.
