This is a pretty good movie, has anyone else seen it? It's about General Eisenhower and the planning of D-Day. (If you had read the title it's pretty self-evident) It stars Tom Selleck (I think that's how it is spelled), and though he doesn't closely resemble Ike, It's still good. There's no fighting scenes , but even without them it's still a good movie.

I liked it, but I'm an action junkie. This movie was just too slow for me. Lots of scenes of Ike smoking, pacing and generally just looking very worried. The best part came at the end when Ike visited the paratroopers from the five oh deuce of the 101st airborne.

I agree with what you guys said. It still bugs me though, that in that last scene with the paras, they have 'ike' wearign british leggins with a dress uniform all because of one pic of him wearing them in N. Africa.......

He also wore them in numerous visits to the troops and when he first landed on the continent and visited the Beachhead HQ in Carentan. It was a fairly common and representative look for Ike when in the field. He deliberately blended US and British uniform kit and appearance as he was the ALLIED commander. Him not wearing them would have been unrealistic. My father served with SHAEF throughout it's existence during the war and was in Ikes presence almost daily. He liked the movie very much and confirmed the uniform accuracy as well as many of the inner details although many of the intense conflict with Monty were more desrete to the common troops of course.

Yes the british leggings were accurate for in the field and all, but not for when he visited the 101st airborne before the Normandy jump....
