Two series that I'd like to see is 'Twelve O'Clock High' and 'Combat!'. 'Twelve O'Clock High' was on for 3 years in the 60's. No surprise if anyone has read my Intro in the introduce yourself section but I remember my father watched 'Twelve O'Clock High' every week. It was about a B-17 bomber group during WWII. It was a continuation of the movie of the same name that starred Gregory Peck. I don't really remember much of the show I was only 4-6 when it was on. My dad also always watched 'Combat!' starred Vic Morrow. I did see a couple of episodes of 'Combat!' awhile back when they were on TV Land. Any one here ever seen either of these shows?

wow I dont know 12 oclock high was a tv show too, they must have had real b17s to work with, thats cool. The neat thing about the original movie, is that they went through the trouble to find earlier b17s for the film, rather than just paint a bunch of G-versions green. good luck in your search! -Gordak

The neat thing about the original movie, is that they went through the trouble to find earlier b17s for the film, rather than just paint a bunch of G-versions green. Actually, they used all later-model B-17 drone controllers with the chin turrets long removed. You can often spot the later war "Cheyenne" tail gun positions in several scenes if you know B-17s well. The film itself was filmed at what is now Duke Field, Florida (a Air Reserve bas in Florida), the TV show used a lot of footage from the movie and was mostly filmed at the Air Museum in Ontario, CA. The main B-17 from the TV show, the "Piccadilly Lilly" is still sitting there at the museum. The scene of Paul Mantz belly landing a B-17 for the movie (yes, done for real) was filmed at Ozark Field, AL, and is now a helicopter field for Ft Rucker. I grew up in that area, and have been to both sites several times. The last time I was at Duke in 1996, one of the Quonset huts they built for the movie set was still there. They actually killed off Savage halfway through the series, and really, it dropped off sharply after season One. I have them all on VHS (taped off of PBS several years ago) and am currently transferring the 1st season only to DVR. The TV show isn't looked upon favorably by vets today, but many WW2 8th AF vets will say that the movie was clearly the best representation of their reality ever put to film. I was at the 91st BG reunion in 2001, and the vets told me over and again what a good movie it was. It's used to teach leadership to this day in various military and corporate venues. We watched it in Army ROTC, and I of course got an "A" on the subject as I'd seen the movie dozens of times as well as having read the book (which is great if you can find a copy). Oh, I thought you all might like this, if you know what it is, you'll want one right away: 918thpx.com/12_oclock_high_toby_mug.htm
