I heard from the comandoSupremo forums that me ne frego was a wartime expression basically meaning "I don't give a damn." There is a wartime song that was amde, I'll try to find the link to it. Very interesting actually.

Hi, I'm new to the board my name's Rich. I'm mostly a collector, I have 3 Broom-handle Mauser's. 2 are the Marushin cap fire Mausers and a HFC Mauser. I also have a Cap Fire MP40 and a AGM MP40 on order from WGCShop. A non-firing Luger replica and the Tokyo Mauri P90. If any one is wondering about my avatar, it's a picture of my father. He was a Tech Sargent in the 8th Air Force in WWII. He was a top turret gunner in B17's and completed 36 missions (11 more than he was required to fly). He was shot down 3 times but kept flying from August '43 thru March '45. He volunteered to join in Oct. of 1940 and came home in Nov. of '45, So he was one the few that were in the army before Pearl Harbor, saw virtually the entire air campaign in Europe and survived to tell the story. Here 's the whole picture of him standing next to his B17.

Well, the italian text was understable, as you know "me ne frego" is a Fascist motto, but it's not a common expression to use.
Come on! you have to go trough the mine field! and the soldier: yes sir! Me ne frego delle mine! (I don't care about the mines or I don't give a damn...) So usally mottos are used to represent something but during war time soldiers do not say so much times Me ne frego... Not all soldiers were so politically minded. Maybe it was the motto of the "camice nere" (it was a unit like the SS, were you have to be a real fascist and "me ne frego" was the motto of this unit if i'm not wrong.) There are a lot of mottos because during the fascism it was very common to find them written on walls but it is important to not generalize this phrases to the common use.
Bye bye!!!;D

Welcome Rich! Great picture of your father! Do you know what the name of his plane was? -G He only mentioned one plane, that must have been his first plane, "Ruthless". Here's a pic of him in his flight gear, He wrote on the back "In my flight gear just back from a mission". You can tell it's very early in the war by the markings on the B-17. The star doesn't yet have the side bands it's just the star.

I've recently discovered Airsoft WW2, and I really like it. History has always been my favorite subject in school- especially WW2. I own so many books on the subject--two bookcases worth. I especially like this time period because my family has a connection to it. My mom's dad fought with the 29th and landed on Omaha Beach. I never met him. He died from a heart attack when my mom was just 14. And on a lighter note, I can't wait to start doing this.

Hi! Well, let my name stay as ViiCii. I'm from Europe, Finland, and I collect German Heer and W-SS militaria and clothing. Allready made some post to the impression topic, you see me there ;> Rifle is my thing, allthough I've been thinking about getting the new cheap MP40, maybe I'll change my W-SS impression to W-SS Feldgendarmie, who knows. We have quite a small WW2 airsoft thing going on here in Finland, but it has rised quite well in past few years, hopely soon we have mucho new WW2 airsofters here I'm 19 year old delivery man, though in 4 months I will be starting my army career, hopely I will get to the finnish MP NCO training. Hopely we have many pleasent topics here ;D

Alex Kaeda Location: Portland, Oregon, United States Contact: lordjade@hotmail.com (MSN messenger - dont bother emailing me there) Impressions: Im putting together a German Impression. My Canadian Impression is 'complete', except for a airsoft rifle - funny thing, nobody will let me use my real enfields at airsoft games . . . . I swear they meet the FPS limits . And by 'complete', I mean, Im always keeping my eyes open for a good deal that will add that extra detail to my impression what is it they say . . . . " you're never really done" Weapons: A bunch of moderns. Im debating between building an MG34, and buying an MP40. Other hobbies: Modern Airsoft. Miniature Wargaming. Future goals: Finish my Criminal Justice Degree. Get a better job. Move to the country and grow peaches.

Catistrophic is a fun word! (Though I am not sure I spelled it correctly) Where is Pula exactly? I was in Slovenia this past year for vacation and we got very close to the boarder between Slovenia and Croatia but we never went.

Hi, Finally managed to get the activation code by having it sent to my daughters msn account! I have been airsofting with my son for about 3 years now in the UK, usually at GZ in the New Forest. About the same time I started volunteer work in my spare time at the tank museum workshops in Bovington, acquiring a genuine rawlings tank helmet led to tanker jacket, HBT coveralls, WE M1911 etc. This rekindled an interest in WWII. Encouraged by a guy called Neilblume at GZ led to an AGM Mp40 which led to creating a german impression (work in progress). I have just bought an agm m14, have pm'd 2nd Bat about a conversion kit, basic webbing set on the way from spearhead, and so it goes on.
Anyway glad to be here, lots of infromative articles and help. Regards Steve
