I read the article on the home page about the Thompsons barrel break. Does it happen often or do I have to worry about it and try to get the extra piece if I DO get the M1A1.

my friends thompson barrel broke in shipping, but it looked like the box was crushed and mangled.
I have a thompson, and I dont worry to much about it. I've had mine for about a year now.
So you dont really have to worry too much about it.

What about the wieght, I'm pretty small and I've seen that it's 7.5 pounds along the web. I got some of my dad's weights and it was pretty dern heavy! I don't think I could run around too good, so I might go for something else...(If this is wrong please tell me.)

how big are you? It is not as heavy as everyone makes it out to be. Unless your 90 pounds it shouldnt be a problem.

uh wow that could be a problem. I didn't think it was to heavy until you go to aim through the sights, then it is kind of cumbersome. However if you shoot from the hip (like most of the time) it shouldn't be too bad.
What part of the country are you in?

The barrel issue only seems to come up if you put on a sling and use it alot. (the sling) I have two thompsons and my first one broke after about three years of skirmishing. I originally JB welded it and that worked for a while. I like having a sling so I purchased a replacement part and added some JB weld to the weak point reinforcing it. I did so on both my guns. That was several years ago and they both seem to be fine. It's sad that they designed it with such an obvious weak point but it is easily remedied.

i've had much the same experience a s 2nd bat.ive had mine for 5 years now and the tab just broke last year.even though i've had the outer barrel re-attached,i think ill add the jb weld to the tab as well, since i like the sling too.other than that little or no problems...or ,i think two pistons and a tappet plate in 5 years is pretty good.

Ya I'd like to know too. That little hex screw on the top of mines is on its last legs trying to hold the outer barrel on. I tried emailing aisoftgear.com numerous time about their "Cyrus Bridge"mathingy, but never got a response. I've got a feeling it's expensive too. A quick google search and I thought I saw something saying it was $150 - ya to heck with that. If you guys custom made your fixes do you have like a little drawing or schematic I could use to make one for myself? I know some people who can do all the metal stuff, it's just a matter of giving them the design to make it. Thanks all. Dan
