A fully in depth tutorial with pics would be very helpful. I mean the project seems like a good one to me and it looks like many people have been successful so far. I just think a step by step standardized example of how to build one cheaply would help those of us who have not attempted this before. Information like the exact type of stock to get (maybe even possible online sources), additional gun parts required (i.e the bolt, etc.), and information on the base airsoft gun internals would be nice. I know people have already posted how-to guides, but a more straight-forward and set in stone guide may be very helpful (especially in helping those of us that need to be taken by the hand and led along a bit more). This will definitely help more people get the job done successfully and with confidence. Thanks again to all of you and for your efforts!

I am taking pictures of my latest endeavors and will be happy to add them to a thread once it's created and I get the latest two guns done. I am doing more of these for the big Lion Claws game at the end of May in California so the Nomads will be armed with vintage rifles. Bolt Actions and old Garands. I hope too to have a couple 30 Cal MGs thanks to Killbuckets kits. I will have made four Springfields and a Kar 98.

If you are in the USA you can get an actual K98 stock for around 75-100 maybe more if you are not in a hurry on ebay. The Finnish gentlemens work looks great though.

You should do what he did: Get to see a Tanaka Kar98K. The first picture is a sheet in which he drew the shape and dimensions of the tanaka stock. If you live in an area where there are WW2 airsofters, this shouldn't pose too much of a problem.

I'd be more interested in his construction of the bolt. Is that a converted airsoft piece? What gun? If a VSR, how did he fabricate the bolt?

That is an APS2 action in the pictures pretty sure.

Yep, it's an APS-2 and there is no work on the handle, bolt or receiver whatsoever.

Hmmm So thats how you make a stock huh? simply make a very simple pattern and spend the next several hours sanding. Sounds very doable. Maybe Ill try my hand at that for a Springfield, doesnt look too hard simply time consuming.
Oh and he has done an amazing job on that rifle, simply outstanding.

It's doable but hard work and expensive. The blank section of the right wood can cost you more then a fully finished actual stock. To do it right you need at the minimum a good assortment of wood working tools. I recommend you find and use existing stocks.

Plans are definitely an option. I may just take some detailed pictures along with a parts list and directions and post them here on the forums for free so that everyone can build their own based on my design. Thanks for your patience guys. My parents acted like they were ok with it until I asked to buy parts. It may be a little while though as I need to figure out a way to get $200 so that I can build a real nice version 2 design which I will base the tutorial off of. Any update on this? A tutorial would be much appreciated I'm sure by a lot of us. Mike
