So it looks like the battery for my AGM MP40 died as the little light on the AC adapter no longer turns on, and the gun does not fire. It was pretty short lived. Hopefully my gun isn't screwed up.
I've heard that a better battery, charger, and maybe even a discharger are the way to go. Do you have any recommendations on which set-up to go with to upgrade my power situation? I'd like to have 2-3 batteries for a weekend as well.
Thanks!

get a Nihm battery and forget about the discharger. Any newer RC car hobby digital charger that is decent you can find on ebay from between 25-50.00 on the low end. Superbrain by MRC was my personal favorite.
Batteryspace.com has pretty good deals on airsoft abteries but honestly it has been awhile since I bought any from them but the ones I have bought and friends bought fromt hem were pretty good. The battery that comes with the AGM is applesauce e pretty much. Sometimes they last awhile sometimes they are DOA.

The battery from my AGM MP40 doesn't cycle my gun anymore and died at the MTO event before the battle- luckily one of the Ersatz brothers was kind (and smart!) enough to have an extra battery on-hand that worked like a charm.
I'm also in the same boat here and I need a new battery/charger before the October Midwest event. Can somebody link me to a few batteries that aren't on eBay that I can order?

Does this gun take some kind of custom battery? If not just go to any online airsoft store.

So I understand that I need an 8.4 volt battery, but what about the mAh or milliamp hour rating? The one that came with the gun is 1100. Should I get the highest mHa I can afford for longer life? Also, do I need to worry about getting a "mini" battery to fit the MP40 or will standard sized 8.4 volt batteries fit?
Thanks!

Having never seen an AGM MP40 I would assume that it takes a mini battery. Personally I would stick with 1100 mah to insure that it will fit in the battery compartment. You can go here: www.airsoftgi.com/product_info.php?cPath=27_46&products_id=2353 and get a very good battery at a decent price. I personally own this battery and it gives me a very nice ROF and doesnt heat up quickly like many cheap batteries (like the one that came with your gun). It is also a NiMh so you don't have to discharge it, but I would still reccommend it.

Yes, replacing the battery that came with gun is a very good idea... Mine overheated without apparent reason, and now, if I'm lucky, it stays charged for about an hour or so before it dies.

No problem. I still have a ways to go to repay everyone for how much the posts on here have helped me try to figure out what gear I need for my WW2 impression that I am trying to put together.
