I just finished a K98 for Neo here on the boards. He has waited very patiently for it and I had to make sure he had it before this weekend as he has waited sometime already and had a game this coming weekend. It is based on a USR-ll base gun that shoots stock at 310fps I hope he is happy with it and if he is not I will work with him to make him a satisfied customer. I broke a couple of endmills that are pretty important to these conversions to me so there are a couple things I am not happy with. Then I am never totally happy with my work. Always something I could have done cleaner or something I could have done a little more trick looking. Full gun displayed on BGS camo. Sorry it is all I have left of German camo. Right side receiver. The bolt handle sticks out a bit. I could make it more fitting to the side of the stock but I hope to change out this bolt handle with a more correct ball end version very soon. The bolt handle will be changed out in the next few weeks. I did not have the new bolt handles I put on my conversions in hand this week and left the stock USR one on there. All he needs to do is send the bolt handle part back to me in a padded envelope and I will get it changed out. Left side of the reciever. I would have liked to shape the cut out on this side a little better however this was one of the endmills that I broke forceing me to use a larger one I had on hand. It still looks fine but irritates me. I think I have a spare receiver around here somewhere and if I can find it I'll cut it like I perfer to do and send it on with the new bolt handle hopefully. Down the receiver shot. You can really see how the handle sticks out. It functions just fine like this but I really want to give it a proper handle. Bottom of the gun. I think the push button release looks real trick on these guns and I think this one came out well. Left side down the barrrel near the hop and rear sight. All in all I am pleased with the conversion. I feel there are a couple of small improvement areas that can be dealt with later. I still feel these are an excellent value in a custom rifle and as always I hope the new owner is very happy with his new toy.

I also wanted to note that this build has caused me to rethink how I put these together some. In the future I will be using a drilled out real steel barrel for these This will cause a price increase but I feel in order to really do it right it needs to be done this way. I also will probally not offer Vz24's anymore as I find the K98 version more personally satisfying to complete. I have a couple more Vz's to finish and the Mosins are more popular than ever. Still looking forward to starting some Enfields for people. More real steel involved in my future endevours. No price increase on the Mosins (Unless I find I have to pay someone to drill out my barrels) as it's cheaper just to buy the whole gun rather than parts but other guns like the K98, Enfield, Springfields may increase in price by 100.00-150.00. Look for me using the most of the real steel parts in the build that I can just like the other builders here.

I'm definitely excited to get my hands on this!
CharleyNovember was very helpful with my initial order (I requested a nonstandard conversion) and has kept in contact with me the whole time.
I'll be sure to give a skirmish report following this weekend.

is there a website that you run detailing your custom works [ie wicked weapons] or is it word of mouth. I'd like to see the range of your services and or customs/ cost.

I am working on a more professional looking website for my work. I currently piggyback it on scenarioairsoft.com. Right now it is word of mouth. The website has always be second or third priority to the guns and perhaps that was a mistake. I hope to be able to have something decent looking by the end of the month. I'll let everyone know when I have something up and going.

Tom,
My God man I didn't know you visited these boards! Great to see you on board. Tom was RECONDO school HONOR Grad in 2006 and was acting student company commander at last years event. I bet you didn't realize that 2nd Bat (me) is better known to you as REMF. AA Dan does great work and I would recommend him to anyone.

hey John ! yeah after you guys flashed all your long winter images we got stung by the WWII bug..............again! we did all this 15 years ago in our blank firing reenacting days. The bummer is we had everything, sold it, and are now paying huge sums to get simple items like canteens back again. We're on the Jerry FJ bandwagon this time around.
this is a great site and great info!
thanx on the wicked weapons clarification. I'd really like to see some enfields for a Brit para impression [which several of us have complete already]
Anyway thanx for the kind words and the intro to a cool site

I got it, but haven't had a chance to use it yet.
Until I get to try it in the field, I can't really determine how much I like it.
The work on the stock is excellent; it has a feel that all my other guns lack and really shows some quality workmanship.
However, the rear sight base lacked the consistency of effort which the rest of the gun had. Epoxy was used to form the mount, but it's surface was left irregular, glossy, and covered with fingerprints.
Overall, without having taken this into the field, I would give it a 7/10.
Very nice quality of stock, but some details were "rough" which I think was due to time constraints.
CharleyNovember was very helpful during the build and I highly recommend him.

The pictures at the start of the thread are taken of my rifle before it was sent, the only thing is their a little bright.
The colors are darker in real life.

"I think the push button release looks real trick on these guns and I think this one came out well." -Charleynovember
Seems like a push button release is your answer. Doesn't look like one from the base gun to me though.

It uses the internal components for the push button catch with a milled peice I make that they fit in.

I don't consider it museum quality, it has some features that a K98 doesn't and is missing some features that a k98 does. The best way to judge for yourself would be to become more informed on the subject and draw this conclusion by yourself.

hey charleynovember, i plan to buy a custom mauser from another member here on the boards, and if it falls through and he isn't able to make anymore, would you be willing to make me one? i know that i've contacted you before about a custom M91 Mosin Nagant, and would still like that gun as well. maybe when i've saved up enough i could buy both at once? it would be later this year, around november or so, but i just want to know should my other deal not go as planned.

If you want an exact museum quality replica no one on these boards makes one. Schmitty made a one off that is about as close as you are gonna get. I find mine are a nice compromise between skirmishable decent looking replica and perfect wall hanger. I think I have added benefits to my conversion over the Dboyi and also the Tanaka believe it or not. I feel my efforts are well worth the price but don't require everyone to feel this way. Neo's 7/10 is fair and resonable. He seemed very pleased with the rifle over all but was not happy about the rear sight. I am still working on that part of the conversion and feel with a little bit more time it will be great.

sorry to revive this. i've been away trying to decide if i wanted to continue WWII airsoft on the account of my hair. i'm cutting it in about one hour.
i don't mean to make it sound bad, i just want to have a backup plan if the first guy can't make me one. i would love to have a great springer, and i really don't want to settle for anything else. it might be a while though. i just got a new job and have to start saving money.
