Upthepunx would probably not be an appropriate 40s persona so establish who that is going to be and identify yourself accordingly. At past events guys have not only come up with names. ranks and units but also the kind of nicknames common to the time which we find is a lot of fun.
We've had "Babe" "New York Tony" "Curly", Tiny, Tank, TEX, Butch, Rosco, Farmboy, and many other fun ones.

It's always hard to say but I'm guessing around 70 to 80. (Maybe less maybe more.) We'll know more as it draws closer.

The local players traditionally wait till the last minute to commit which always makes things crazy but there is a tremendous amount of buzz about this event and lots of local folks putting together impressions and still deciding on units etc. I attended a meeting yesterday with the primary planners and the scope and flow is very well thought out and designed with a wide latititude that can facilitate a wide variety of participation. The flow could handle several hundred if it had to. Certainly the area with 600 plus acres can.

Good work on the promo video. The actual fire sounds and muzzle flashes surprised me when they came. Nice action.

Wow!!!!!
I really wish I could have helped out more. The flow and action was quite good and the sense of tension was outstanding.
I can't wait for this event. Awesome job Hellmutt, Schmitty, Scott J, Ranger Warren and your cast of dozens. The wolfhound is amazing. The Krauts obviously miscalculated the line and ran smack into the FPF. intense action!

I have a couple questions about event logistics that I'd like answered before I register and buy a plane ticket. I've read and reread this thread a number of times and checked the battlesim site and have not been able to determine the following:
1.) Which day is the third optional day? Sunday or Friday?
2.) What time on Friday does the event start?
3.) What time on Sunday does the event finish?
4.) It was mentioned earlier that Battlesim may be able to arrange transport to and from the airport, is this still an option?
5.) If the answer to #4 is no, is the parking/staging area at the field accessible by a non-4WD vehicle?
6.) It was mentioned by Jaeger-Dru I think that OPFOR (German) needed to be applied for, how does one go about this? I only have a German impression and wouldn't be able to put together an acceptable Allied impression between now and the event.
I PM'd hellmutt yesterday with similar inquiries and haven't yet received a response, so I was wondering if any registered participants could help me out.
Thanks

I'll see what I can answer. Friday is the optional day. I would get there around 1300 Friday and the event will roughly end at 1700 on Sunday. Sunday is the "Jump" 0300-1700 hours of action.
.4 Would be better posted on Battlesim and either Hellmutt or RangerWarren could provide a better answer.
If you are flying out, German will be fine.
OT. Did you PM Hellmutt here or on Battlesim?
Punx you need to register on Battlesim and contact REMF for US Weapon Rentals.

1. not sure sorry 2.and 3. Friday afternoon - Saturday is training operations (Seems similar to RECONDO in that respect) Train/use lessons against opfor(You in this case) Sunday Early Morning(3am) DDay mission begins ends 12-18 hrs later. 4. They can offer 1-2 people a ride if you have a large group you are kinda on your own. Which is understandable. If I had room I 'd let you ride with me but it is a Caliber and I got 3 other Allies with me already. 5. The AO seems accesible to normal vehicles. 6. I am sure they would be glad to have you on the German side especially if you are flying in.
Check with RangerWarren on the battlesim forum and here you will get a faster response.

n4n00k,
It's exciting to have so much interest from our comrades back east!
1.) Which day is the third optional day? Sunday or Friday?
Friday is optional. There will be a small scenario or two which are unrelated to the main operation. This will probably bethe bigger night for socializing and recreation operations.
2.) What time on Friday does the event start?
Friday check in will start at 1200. This could slip to the right but not by more than a couple hours.
3.) What time on Sunday does the event finish? The event is scheduled to finish NLT 1500. This includes victory parade/closing ceremonies.
4.) It was mentioned earlier that Battlesim may be able to arrange transport to and from the airport, is this still an option?
This is still an option. The best way to go about this is to get on the battlesim boards and ask about it. Battlesim can accomodate a few people to and from the event site however battlesim staff, team members and local players are usualy instrumental to halping out of state and international players with ground transportation.
5.) If the answer to #4 is no, is the parking/staging area at the field accessible by a non-4WD vehicle?
yes
6.) It was mentioned by Jaeger-Dru I think that OPFOR (German) needed to be applied for, how does one go about this? I only have a German impression and wouldn't be able to put together an acceptable Allied impression between now and the event.
PM inbound. I just need to explain the OPFOR concept.
Hope this helps feel free to PM with questions.

rangerwarren and hellmutt: I've PM'd both of you but I just wanted to publicly thank you for your comprehensively detailed responses to my inquiries about your event. As I explained in my PMs to both of you, it does not appear as though the stars have aligned for a 3rd Panzergrenadier squad to help push back the American Airborne invaders taking their Jump to Destiny. I truly hope we'll be able to make the trek out to WA for one of your events as they look too good to miss. Best of luck with the event and I'm sure we'll see some great AAR pics! Cheers! -Garrick

Certainly, Try to figure out a discrete and safe way to haul it around. Unless it's a 40 vintage camera we'd like it to be invisible when not in use.
Taking pictures and posing is half the fun at these events .

Question about registration: When I go to check out, it is going to charge me for shipping and unless I send a check/money order and put "walk in/pick up" It will charge me for shipping, how do I pay for this using a credit card without having to pay for shipping..?? thx -Eddie

There shouldn't be a "shipping" charge for event enrollement. Contact Hellmutt directlly with your question. He can be contacted at Hellmutt@Battlesim.com You can register without paying (he typically requires funds a few weeks out) but simply wants firm commitments from the folks coming as far in advance as possible for planing and budgeting.
I'll see you there and I'll have your batteries (fully charged) and your spare Thompson Magazines.

Directions will be included in the player packet and will go out with plenty of advanced timing for everyone. If all else fails contact me and I can get them for you. I know they are working on the player packet now.

Hey, if anyone in the area wants to see one of the BEST airborne impressions in the Northwest US, go to Ft Lewis for Armed Forces Day at the display site at the baseball field. Plenty of WW2 stuff will be there, including Butch, the uber collector! Seriously, this guy is a retired E-7 and has darned good stuff!
