Fortunately,, 2nd bat has pretty much hit the Nail on the head. Thank you 2nd bat. you seem to know exactly where I am coming from.
Let me make a very specific distinction here, encase it is causing some confusion.
WW2 AIRSOFT refers to airsoft played in a Hyper millsim environment where everyone wears ww2 garb and carries ww2 period weapons.
The WW2 Airsoft association is something completely different. It dose not Own the term WW2 AIRSOFT. it is simply an organization of players who Promote the hobby of WW2 Airsoft.
so when I say "WW2 AIRSOFT" I Am referring to the hobby as a whole. Not Necessarily the WW2 AIRSOFT ASSOCIATION as a group. Unless I specifically say the ww2 airsoft association.
I Am Not advocating that the WW2 airsoft association should Lower its standards for authenticity in any way shape or form.
I TO want to be able to attend an event, where everyone takes it Seriously, and it doesn't just turn it into a complete farb fest. My Inviting Monty to post here was not as big of a deal to me as you seem to think it is Guinness. Yes, I don't like the fact that people Bombed his post after I invited him, But my main issue is and always has basically ben,
RECRUITMENT. RECRUITMENT. RECRUITMENT.
You are More Likely to find people who are willing to get "serious" about ww2 airsoft at an event like Monty's, then you are at an event like, say, LION CLAWS, or OSG. And that makes it an excellent opportunity to Make contact with the sorts of people that you want to Recruit. And the Best way to do that is to Give guys like Monty your support by Being there.
Lets say this year, there are only 10 guys who show up and take it seriously at Monty's event. Maybe those 10 guys will inspire a few more guys to take it more seriously NEXT year. Maybe next year there will be 15 or 20 more guys, who were so impressed by by our impressions, that they bothered to go out and research and collect there OWN impressions. Maybe thats another 5-10 guys who would be willing to participate in an actual ww2airsoft association event. Maybe within a few years, you can have an event that draws people from all over the country, to participate in an AUTHENTIC ww2 airsoft reenactment type event.
None of thats going to happen if People like us just decide instead to Boycott the event because we dont like the Uniform standards.
Why am I Arguing this so vehemently? I will tell you why. It has NOTHING to do with "ego, pride, or who is wright or wrong".
a few years ago I had a group of 4 people in my area who were interested in doing WW2 airsoft. 3 of us built up nice impressions, My buddy chappy had a great 3rd ID impression to match my own, another buddy had a great HEER impression. But Guess what. They all gave up on ww2 airsoft and sold off there gear because they looked around and realized that NO ONE BUT US was doing this! they decided it was best to just go with less expensive and more contemporary airsoft gear for about 1-10th the price tag.
It was then that I realized that there must be TONS of people out there who are probably willing to participate in a ww2 airsoft themed event. But, they just don't see enough interest out there among other people to make it worth there time or money. And I Bet some of these sorts of people show up at Monty's event.

We should frequent ANY WWII themed Airsoft event. SURE, maybe a lot of other folks might not have the right gear, but if they see how it is done and done right, maybe the interest will grow. Right now I don't particularly see that many WWII events scheduled, and I don't have the time or money right now to travel to Colorado or the NW. I was overjoyed when Monty announced his events, and was one of the first to sign up. AND you know what? The April 22nd game was cancelled because ONLY FIVE PEOPLE pre-registered. THAT my friends is a crying shame.
I plan on attending Monty's June and September games. I certainly hope that we can come together and get more folks this time out. I hate just letting my outfit do nothing but sit on display in my Den.
