DDay:
Time: November 30th and Dec 1st 2007! Place: In Lake Forest IL.
Axis Registration time: Friday Nov 30th, 2-3pm Allied Registration time: Friday Nov 30th, 4-5pm
Soldiers, Sailors and Airmen of the allied Expeditionary force!...Finally the time has come for the 1st Ever WW2AA DDay Beach landing!
There will be F/x, AMAZING scenarios and actual beach Landing! Allies go on leave! It will truely be an amazing event.
Allies:
Airborne:
-Airborne will be given their objectives in more detail at the briefing.
-Will jump over Normandie mainland at 3 am.
-You will scout the area and set up a command post in the farmers barn and get some sleep.
More will be updated when available.
Allied Infantry:
-All units will be given their own respective missions at the briefing the night before (ex: 29th ID you will scale the bluffs and take out the german pillbox)
-You will hit the beaches at 8am.
-When the beach is taken, establish a HQ and plan for the assault that will be taken on the bluffs.
-If the top is taken and all the germans are either Dead or captured the game will end.
(If it is early than we expected, we will do another landing.)
Medic rules: Infantry:
When hit if you do not lay down and yell for your medic you will not be assisted.
When hit if you do not lay down the enemy doesnt have to stop firing. (We look for a body laying down not moving or aiming back that says its a kill not *Hit! hit!*.
Throw some acting in there play the part, bring the littlle bit of Tom Hanks with you!
-HEAD SHOTS ARE INSTANT DEATHS!
Instant deaths: Consist of any mortar round hits, grenades or helmet shots. You will fall down and lie down, your dead, no shooting your gun, no telling your buddies where the enemy is...let them tell how your laying down, let them figure out how you died...DEAD CANNOT SPEAK!
When dead you must lay down and not move for 10 min.
***NOTE***: MEDICS CAN! BE SHOT!!! You are technically soldiers, soldiers die! No whining!
**Airborne medic rules: Same as infantry, but if your medic is shot, he is dead, if anyone else after that is shot, where it is fatal, you are dead and automatically POW. When POW just lay down dead do not move till the scenario is over**
Allied Leave: Now those above are the battle layouts, For the allies after the DDay briefing and speech by General George S. Patton, they will be allowed to go on leave, there will be an escort to downtown highland park, or you may stay and listen to the exhilirating stories of two PTO US ACE fighter pilots!
Axis Leave: Now we have something special planned for the Axis soldiers! We will also have the mood of it being WW2, with a 1900s manor atop the bluffs (For show only), Coast watch, beach gaurd and other great things!
Notes:
Axis Soldats: Bring Dinner for friday and lunch for saturday.
Allied Soldiers: Bring Dinner for friday and lunch for Saturday.
*To all*: We seem to have an issue with the weather and clothing. Now You must all come in proper DDay wear such as, M41s, wool trousers, leggings w/ low boots and jump boots, etc etc...But For camping bring modern camp sleeping items like sleeping bags, blankets, etc. If you can keep it in your tent you can bring it. Just stay warm at night, for the battle on Saturday you may wear the following gear: Germans: Scarfs, toques, gloves and ear muffs. Allied: Scarfs, gloves, and wool caps.
We will not employ "Dummy" grenade rules...but if you have gas airsoft ones your more than welcome to bring them and use them.
Also period haircuts and facial hair WILL be enforced. So please cut your hair...Believe it or not it grows back! It should be about 1-2 inches in length, short on the sides (not shaved) and combed neatly. Your men not ladies!
Please also show respect to our older airsofters, were all friends here, lets not make enemies! No answering back to NCOs or COs. We will not have an overall commander for the camps so show respect to all ranking soldiers or soldats. Thank you.* If you need loaner gear, please contact Russian or myself.
Please layer up under the proper uniforms.
Germans may wear camo of any sort just no winter parkas or great coats.
Thank you all for patience.
Franz

Gents, gents, calm down!
No, it wont be spot on to Normandy weather. However, it'll be cold, harsh and overall, unpleasent. Just like Northern France.
The field we have used for the last event and will be using for this event is on an extremly limited use basis. This is the only day we could use it for the next year or so. I'm sorry, I want to have a damn good D-Day event. I'm not compromising the majorities wishes for a good D-Day event because of a couple whiners and their inability to huddle up. War is Hell, kids. We arent representing any veterans by throwing on winter gear that hadn't been issued yet and snuggling cozily, while they, in around the same temperatures, fought with no more than summer uniforms.
In any case, the event will be more than worth coming out for. Tons of suprises in store!

Training programs, several sites this event will occur on. Overall, should be a fantastic event!

Quick Note: Correct uniforms required does not mean that we cannot provide some correct uniforms to people whose impressions are not yet completed. It simply means do not wear a set of M43s for a D-Day landing.

*Update*
Well all, the D-Day event is looking fantastic! So many surprises in store, I can barely contain myself. Truly will be a once in a lifetime opportunity, and no one should miss it! Again, this event is not just for regional units. Anyone in the WW2AA that would like to make the trip can and should!
The owners of the field have rescinded their imposed age limit. Event now open to all members of the WW2AA.

*UPDATE* Allies will get the chance to meet and hear from two pilots from the PTO in WWII, one of which was a bomber, rumoured to have flown above Iwo Jima. Just one of many cool things that have been set up for this amazing event!

Glad you asked that, Puss...er..I mean, Capt. Zak!
For this event, we will have continuous play. No breaking down into separate scenarios, instead, a unit (hence, the necessity for full units) will be tasked with an objective, and the unit CO will be left to determine how best to go about meeting that objective. Specific objectives, thou the scenarios have been written up, are not going to be released. This is to avoid a similar event that occurred not to many events ago here in the Midwest, when the objectives were completed out of order. The only way this event and field can work is if things are completed in order, thus, objectives will be wired to the force after they take an objective through field phones, etc.
The objectives that I can describe consist of clearing mines, taking out pillboxes, scaling a cliff to take out an MG position, and place charges on anti-tank emplacements. These are just a few amongst many, many others, and this promises to be at least a full day of fighting. Specifics will be announced if possible, but, overall, they will be overcast to avoid later problems. Trust me, despite all our secrecy, this is gunna be one hell of an event!

I think if you wet people's appetites with some concrete details and allow guys to dress for the weather you're RSVP's will start to flood in. Too much secrecy, too cavalier an attitude about allowing people to dress for the weather.

Updates posted above...Pictures to be posted this coming Friday of the field.'
Guys, about "correct uniforms": We are going to be using footage from this for a movie. We want every shot to be 100% accurate, or as close to it as possible. Thus, wear watever you want, but, the outer most layer must be correct. If you can fit your uber-winter-parka-of-manly-man-flesh under your M41 and wool trousers, by all means, go for it.

Looks like a pretty heathy event for attendance considering your update at the top. The Germans look outnumbered for this one. But then they were.
Maybe the tables will be reversed from the MTO event and this time it will be the Allies enjoying a "Turkey Shoot."
Anyways - Good Luck - you guys are overdue for another fun event.

Ok, we went down to the field today, there are most of our old positions, and some memories of our anzio event. Alas, it was too dark to take pictures. If you want to see our event field, I believe there are pictures of it on the anzio event video.
