I am considering starting my own 82nd unit in the midwest region, we will be doing a generic 82nd Impression which is easy with 82nd because before the 82nd left North Africa they were ordered to take markings off their helmets so we could do 504th PIR, 505th PIR, 507th PIR, 508th PIR, 456th PFAB etc... I'd like to use realistic tactics in combat and get a very authentic unit going. Any feedback? Also i will become a rifleman and quit doing medic for airsoft.

For anyone interested, soon I will have an extra uniform and a few extra helmets and medic gear for people who can't afford going paratrooper if interested. I will have plenty of gear soon, I am doing a 3/505th PIR G Co. Impression for North Africa, Sicily, Italy, Normandy, Holland, Belguim and Germany so I will have multiple webgear sets, helmets, uniforms, and other things.

The Airborne arm is already well represented. Have you considered a standard GI impression? We need more line infantry, not more Airborne. That's just my opinion. By all means, do what floats your boat.

Its not that we need more infantry its we need more variety...as in we have enough Captain Millers (2ndrangers) and Dick Winters (101st). The 82nd may be airborne but they havent had a HBO series or Spielberg film made for them...yet, not thats what the main issue is. If anyone does decide leg, think about the 45th infantry, 30th Infantry or the 3rd infantry. Basically a Infantry unit currently in the WW2AA, If the unit you want and HAVE to portray has not met WW2 airsoft yet start it. Back to the thread though, if you want to go airborne and not catch flak for the BOB association...then I suggest this unit, as it has much more diversity than most airborne units, and you dont have to do the basic "Normandy" Airborne imp thus eliminating the "I wanna be just like dIcK wInTeRs" mentality. Plus when you fight alongside with some Infantry units it would be somewhat accurate (82nd fought in Sicily, correct?). Sorry for the novel, my 0.02. ;D

Ya 82nd was in Sicily, Though in the midwest really how many airborne units are there? There is not as many as everyone makes it to be or at least it seems like it -Nick

Infact.. the 505th is said to be the best Parachute Infantry Regiment in World War 2 Quoted from Four Stars of Valor... the 505th PIR is the only Parachute Infantry Regiment to make 4 Combat jumps... the 101st gets to much attention when the 82nd did a helluva lot more and fought in some of the nastiest combat in the Mediteranian.
