Midwest Ostfront Airsoft presents the WW2 Airsoft Skirmish “Springtime in Porkhov,” April 11-12, 2008, at the Buddenhagen skirmish field, N2955 Sidney Ave., Neillsville, WI 54456. It’s April, 1944, and the Soviet push to drive the Germans out of the Novgorod region once and for all has begun. Elements of the German 3rd Panzergrenadiers will be facing off against a platoon from the Soviet 198th Rifle Division, each side augmented by regular troops and/or militia irregulars. The field will be open for camping set-up and recon after 5PM Friday, for those who wish to overnight. Please, NO FIRING anywhere on the field on Friday without the knowledge and express permission of Troy the field operator - we do NOT want any "stray BB" incidents! The registration and chronograph area will be open at 8am Saturday morning. Skirmish Briefing begins at 9:30am. To start the day, we will be running a one-hour scenario "Quiet Morning," followed by two two-hour-long scenarios "Der Arsch der Welt" and "Foraging Expedition," with a rest break at 11:00am, and a lunchbreak at 1:30pm. Morning Scenario – Quiet Morning Soviet forces are manning their dugout positions and awaiting orders for the general assault on the German unit known to be operating in the area to the west. The sentries have heard no motors on the road, the Germans appear to be staying out of the village, radio chatter has been minimal, and no Braided Caps or NKVD have been seen in this sector for days, so the likelihood of any order coming soon is low – or so says the old Frontoviki. For the Soviets, it should be a quiet morning. But perhaps the Germans have other ideas…. Rest Break - 11am Midday Scenario – Der Arsch der Welt The German forces have been ordered to transport a PAK artillery piece through the trackless southern section of the sector without it being spotted by Soviet troops, and deploy it so that it can fire into the village square. Soviet recon has been tasked with avoiding firefights while determining the exact location of the German artillery piece, and reporting their observations back to HQ every ten minutes without being spotted or eliminated. Lunch Break - 1:30pm Afternoon Scenario – Foraging Expedition Certain elements of the local populace have been hoarding potatoes rather than turning them over to the troops. An Outrage! Both German and Soviet forces have been tasked with locating any and all potatoes in the vicinity, liberating these wayward tubers, and returning them to HQ. The team with the most potatoes in their possession at HQ the end of the skirmish wins. Field Rules and Equipment Requirements can be found at www.ostfrontairsoft.com

Field rules and an introduction to the MOA's new "class-based" system, which was designed to provide game balance and ww2 flavor, can be found here: www.ostfrontairsoft.com/rules.shtmlSimilarly, if you're not in possession of a German or Soviet kit, equipment requirements for partisan impressions can be found here: www.ostfrontairsoft.com/irregequipment.shtmlWe welcome feedback regarding our rules and standards. Of course, other allied impressions are welcome at the event. -Udo

Very cool class system you've created. I think it will really add to the game.
Will you require a certain number of people to crew a support weapon?

Very cool class system you've created. I think it will really add to the game. Will you require a certain number of people to crew a support weapon? Currently no. While brainstorming this, we had played with the idea of having riflemen being the ammo mules. Meaning they were the only ones who could bring extra BBs and speed-loaders onto the field. While this would have been accurate as far as supporting the German MGs, we felt that it would've been impossible to police, prone to abuse and most likely to result in a fair amount of complaining. Certain weapons and vehicles will require more than 1 person to operate. Not being the owner of said weapons, I cannot promise what will be available at the event. But all indications are that there will hopefully be some exotic firepower present (how's that for ambiguity?) Udo and I spent a fair amount of time crafting both the class and grenade rules on the site (the grenade rules have been incorporated into the field rules by gryphon). Right now there is a pretty solid consensus within the MOA group that what we have put together is a first draft that will be put to the test in April. Most likely these classes will evolve over time.

Sounds logical. I can understand how you wouldn't want to overcomplicate the scenario rules. As far as 'exotic' goes, I know that if I along with the rest of my group attend, we will be toting some serious firepower ourselves...I will not go into details.

Please do. I'm sure you guys are cooking something up. Now, I'll be curious about it. As for exotic goes for the event, there will be the A/C, a bunch of ppsh's, the pak, either one or two German MG's, probably some fausts, a stg44, and those world premieres that didn't get done in time for the last February event.

We will probably only be packing a few K-98’s, MP-40’s and a Machine Gun or two; probably a MG-34 at least. Not to mention at the very least three men! Unless of course, warlord, you didn’t tell me something?
