Hi Guys,
Found you at last - knew there had to be fellow sufferers out there somewhere.
I'm trying to disassemble my Garand to do the "Gordacheck" (Gordak - your name will be live forever) but I can't work out how to strip the gun forward of the receiver. I've removed the stock, front sight, hex screw under the sight block, the big screw in the end of the gas tube at the front under the barrel, and the piece that holds the gas tube to the barrel and I assumed that the rest should then just slide off but no. And I can't see any other screws to undo. Can anybody help me out here.
By the way, when I separated the stock from the receiver I found a small flat piece of metal that has broken off something. Its 5 mms wide, 3 mms deep from one side to the broken edge and 2 mms thick. The edges of the side opposite the broken edge are rounded in manufacture and one side of the piece is shiny and the other side is black. Realise this is a needle in a hay stack question but just wondered if anybody might have an idea.
Thanks guys
Paul

hmmm if you havenĀ“t twisted of the barrel, try to turn the Outerbarrel, the screw under teh frontsight fixed the barrel, so now you should be abel to screw it out, then the upper handguard should also get free.
The part you found, have you got an image?
