Most of the vests where made in country by the local tailor shops, the first vests were used by the ARVN , then GIs started wearing them , i know they came in OD , Tiger Stripe and when the ERDL material became available they started being made out of it.

The OD vest being used by US Army troops during Tet '68 , this is the version with pockets covering the entire back And this one is the Tiger Stripe version being used by a USSF member.

The first picture is just like the one I have. I've seen some others on ebay, but usually you can tell they are not incountry made, and are post war. I sold mine for a good amount, rather than what I bought it for at a local surplus store. I can say it was nice having a vest and bandoliers instead of old marine webbing

Id swap those pouches out for SDS pouches, would look better IMO. The placement of the pistol mag pouch is odd too.

I don't know, for the guys I dealt with wearing these, the types of pouches and their placement looks just fine. I saw more than a few people with this exact layout. The only suggestions I'd make would be for a neoprene band (plenty of folks outside of Ft Lewis sell them), NVG bracket, IR flag patch (Quantico Tactical has them now) although that's not as common as they once were in the field. Of course, I love the 45th Div patches!

Even the tan pouches have questionable placement.

Notice he is wearing it there because he has nowhere else to put it though, I bet if he had more room he would have moved it

Every time I look at cameras I blink. And I didn't really know I was looking up that hardcore. Yeah I do need a Russian belt and an AK. The backpack is the most uncomfortable thing I've ever wore.

I think that frontofrussia.com has them. I read a review about them, and suprisingly people seem very happy with their experiences there.

The thing with that guy is he only does bank transfers and money grams. No paypal, credit cards or any thing that it would make it easy to buy from him.
