Hi all, I am new to this forum and thought I would share this.
It is a simple way to create durable, great looking, inert, stick grenades.
This is the best way I have found to create these wonderful gems. WHAT YOU"LL NEED
One can of Tomoto Paste (6oz Contadina can) Broomstick one 2 inch nail newspaper Very thin cardboard(Front of a notebook)
Firstly: Cut the top of the can off completly and be sure to smooth the edges. Peel of the label.
Secondly: Measure the length of the can and cut a peice of the card to match the lenght ( be sure it can wrap around the can) Now glue the card in place, covering the ridges of the can.
Thirdly: Find the center of the bottom of the can and hammer a nail through. Remove the nail.
Fourthly: Cut the broomstick so you have a peice 10 inches in lenght.
Fithly: Place the stick in the can at the center and drive the nail through. Then fill the can with a few quarters and then complelty stuff it with newspaper, giving it weight and holding everything in place.
Sixthly(lol): Cut a circle out of the card to fill the bottom of the can and glue it in place.
Seventhly(lol): For the bottom of the stick (the part you twist off), you could do many things, I have diabetes and used part of my supplies that fit perfectly, LOL, but you can use anything that fits.
Eighthly: Wrap the stick in newspaper and spray paint the proper parts the correct color.
Ninthly: Write the words ""VOR GEBRAUCH SPRENGKAPSEL EINSETZEN"". I used a stencil to properly paint them.
After that sand down the handle and there you have it. A beautiful, cheap, and super great looking German Stick Grenade.
I'll post a pic later.

That does sound pretty ingenious...just I wouldnt put too many quarters. I know if I got hit in the head with $5.00 worth of quarters I would sure be a sour kraut...Again good Idea maybe someone can work off that and make one that can disperse PB's.

You know, I'll bet if there was some way to fire a BB shower from the can, that might be a good potato masher.

that still wouldn't solve how to make an inexpensive grenade though. If that bb shower shell is inside you'll still have to go fetch it after you throw it...

True. Maybe if there were some way to disperse the BBs while still in the air...

Im beginning to think the best way to make a "cheap" grenade would be to use the AEG arms claymore method.
The way their claymore works seems to be nothing more than a mini trampoline piece which practically sling shots bbs and doesnt actually "fire" them.
If a smaller version of that piece could be worked into say, a repainted Grenade BB container it might work. take a lot of engineering to get something skirmish worthy and cheap though.

You know, I did that exact thing a few weeks back and it turned out pretty good. I never actually threw it at anyone though hehe!

Hi!!! Yesterday night I have made my stick granade! I have used a screw instead of a nail, and a little bottle cap for the stick bottom cap.
I will do some photos, I have to paint it! Bye bye!!!

Hi! I have tried to launch the grenade... but it is quite dangerous the metal can! So I have used a camping bed nerf, rolled around the broomstick. With some duck tape it resist to be launched and it is not dangerous like the metal can. here are some photos: softairww2.altervista.org/2007/09/03/stielhandgranate-24-riproduzione/the article is in italian... Bye bye!

For the cost to produce the foam version and appearance wouldn't it be better to invest in these: www.militarytour.com/Reproductions/WW11/German/Ordance/Masher.htm...since no pyrotechnics or gas propulsion is involved either. Just a thought. Mike **btw-- these are offered cheaper elsewhere although I can't remember where at the moment.

I am sure that there must be some way to have the foam version of the grenade fire bbs. Making them into smoke nades wouldn't be so hard either (just take a stick style smoke making firework and put it inside the foam). You couls leave the wick open, which would allow the smoke to come out and for it to be easily lit.

Yes but they cost 30$!!! I have made one in 10 minutes and with an old camping bed. A new camping bed cost less than 5$, i think they are quite expensive!
Anyway maybe using a gas tank and valve in the stick and some tubes filled of bb that escape from the head so the gas will expand in the empty head and push out the bbs in all direction from tubes.
It is only a mad idea old about 3 years but I haven't found the material here where I live.... Bye bye!

That is a great design but if you want to make an inexpensive functional stick grenade there is a youtuber named Tacome1942 who made functional stick grenade out of paper and pen parts here is the link www.youtube.com/watch?v=kC8RhCb87-QI am new to this forum so if the link don't work go to youtube and type in stick grenade and look for Tacome1942.

also to build up the grenade instead of using just news paper or card board you can build up with card board and to give it a seamless look you can cover it a ll with tissue and elmers glue and water mixed and brush that over the tissue. and paint for effect.

I have completed M24 stick grenades, and , quite frankly, they differently not good looking.
A stick from my woods, sandpaper, 2 scews, rocks and lots of duck tape don't add up to much.
But they will do.
