As scooped right here months ago, It's finally arrived www.wgcshop.com/pcart/shopper.php?itm=MS-RG-M1C_srch_1Now bear in mind this is not an 'export' model yet and it does show the 'incorrect' banana magazine more commonly associated with the M2, however the new M1 is here!!! ...and yes before some knucklehead says this, look closely at the receiver- no fire selector switch for full auto If...er uh when the export M1 Garands and M2 Carbines sell out, then Spartan Imports will hopefully request Marushin to offer the new M1 in a beefed up, green gas ready version. However as a past owner of the 'old' M1's (both versions) I shot them on Green with no problems, yes of course there is a substantial difference between a NBB and a GBB, but, and I'll let you in on a little secret, shhh I shoot the M2 on semi with greengas also- no problems yet- but I haven't in a while because the dang mags are sooo expensive! Hey ya'll! no pushing or crowding! I saw them first!!!! ;D BTW, asking source to see when correct stick mag will be avail. *edit* Here is something interesting- www.redwolfairsoft.com/redwolf/airs...il?prodID=23161Over at Redwolf they say 'Single' shot- and imply that its not a GBB, however that's damn sure a banana mag, which has never been available for the previous NBB M1, and again, there is no fire selector toggle on the receiver, so they aren't just re-using an M2 picture........ and they do show that little grippy thing for cocking the gun..... Redwolf has been mistaken before though God love 'em Just checked WGC again, they say 'Gas Blowback' I believe them Slainte! -G

Understood- As far as the para stock, I investigated that possibility with the M2 when I received mine. It can be done, with some modification and dremilling- the internal works are substantially different than the older NBB 8mm Carbine, so it will be a good piece of work, but where there is a will and all that

awesome that the new m1's come out but still, NO F$ING 15 ROUND MAG. If you can't tell already I'm slightly dissapointed. Guess those older model m1 owners will stay a rare breed yet again.

Anyone here know Japanese? I think we need to get a "Build a 15 round M1 Carbine Magazine Please!!" letter on its way to Marushin HQ. And while we're at it, maybe a 'Please send Guinness the parts to fx his broken M1 Garand' request too...

or we can stage another pearl harbor, get the marines to invade japan, and force marushin to make 15 round mags, but thats only if we can't get a hold of them by mail

Am I the only one here who can read? I am looking at the new one right now and it says that the new M1 carbine comes with a banana clip that holds 15 rounds. Are we talking about share mags or what, 'cause I am confused here. Also if I make an M1A1 and sale it, Guinness you will be the first to know.

The mags are in fact limited to 15 rounds but...they are the post war M2 banana shaped magazine instead of the WW2 correct shorter box magazines which would make the model more palatable to this audience. If it's a reliable shooter, spare magazines become available and eventually comes out with a box mag I would definitely add it to the arms room. With a box magazine it would be applicable to a wide variety of periods and be excellent for WW2, Korear and Vietnam airsoft. The para version would just be a nice variation. Incidently alot of airborne troopers used the conventional stocks as well.

I suppose a legitimate question would be can this new gun utilize the old mags from the NBB version?

I immediatly thought of 'modding' one up, but our good friends at Maru(shin) have buggered us by moving the gas reservoir to the magazine. Which means it will be absolutely impossible to make one for yourself out of the 2nd version (8mm) M1 Carbine's mags due to the difference in the way it mates to the firing pin etc. inside the gun.
Further it seems a long shot and quite a bit of work to 'experiment' with demo'ing a current M2 mag and putting it into some kind of smaller M1 mag- the shape of the gas reservoir alone makes that a no-go, and besides, who is crazy enough to tear into a $45+ dollar M2 mag just to be disappointed.
If I was going to guess, I would say that Marushin received enough inquiries about the release of a new M1 Carbine from the Japanese home market that they simply retro-fitted (or reverse engineered) M2's to be M1's- not much engineering to be done there- I would also guess that tooling up to produce the new "Export" models had an effect on this to a large extent. Understand that this entire product segment is to answer demand here in the States, and came primarily at Spartan Imports suggestion.
So mark this down, here comes another patented Guinness prediction: I am guessing that we won't see an M1 Carbine stick mag unless A.) The 'Export' product line does so well that they add the M1 Carbine to the list, or B.) There is enough Japanese demand for one.
So we should promote the dickens out of the new M1 Garands and maybe even M2's, because they are watching that market closely. Remember this is somewhat of a 'first' where a Japanese mfg considers foreign markets and not just the home Japanese buyer. If those guns sell out, that will send a clear message to Maru that not only is WWII an expanding and important market niche, it will let them know in bold letters that the US and other western markets are areas of growth.
Slainte!

Russian, You have been here long enough to know that if there is a WWII weapon available, its most likely been reviewed right here (or on Arnies ) by one of the staff or one of the members....sheesh ww2aa.proboards45.com/index.cgi?board=gun&action=display&thread=1168045348

because the new one isn't what we hoped because I find consolation in having 2 NBB Carbines ;D Seriously though, i'm hoping they really bring out the box mags out or at least a correct carbine at some point.

Oh, I have read that review. I posted before I learned it was simply a retrofitting of the older M2's, I thought this was a new weapon altogether, or atleast a revisitation of the old M1.

Who reads and writes Japanese among us? BTW, I know I plug these guys alot, but the boys over at BoomArms sell the M1 for $250, that's still $14 bucks cheaper than everybody else ;D And I know the M2 mag is upsetting to all of us, but look at it this way.... We know that they will eventually make the correct mag, why not avoid the rush on the gun and get it now. Well ok, that's just me , I can't wait
