We are now officially Recruiting for 505th PIR (82nd ABN) airsofters on the (North) East.
We have 10-12 players completely new to the sport. If you do not have a full kit you will have time to work on it, and we will have Airsoft Gun Raffles.
We have a sister German unit, meaning we can have skirmishes more often.
Battle History
Operation Husky (Sicily), 1943 Operation Avalanche (Italy), 1943 Operation Neptune (Normandy), 1944 Counterattack to "Wach em Rein", 1944-1945 Occupation Service (Germany), 1945

There are some signifigant flaws with the equiptment page.
Airborne didn't wear leggings once they became paratroopers. peroid.
the "average" wasn't an m1-c or an m1 helmet. It would most likely be an M2 D-bale for anything up to market garden, then mabye they'd be issued an M1-C. They would only wear m1 helmets if they lost/damaged the jump helmet they were issued.
There isn't a "parachute" first aid packet. That term is a reenactorism. It's an assault first aid packet, not something just carried by airborne.
not every gi carried a pistol belt, only those who carried a weapon other than a BAR, M1, or springfield.
You can only fit 1 canteen in the canteen carrier. Not multiple as you listed.
You didn't necessarily carry 2 bandoliers, just however you wanted/could get.
the m1910 T-handle shovel eventually became phased out to the majority of paratroopers by the m1943 E-tool.
You should state that these are just broad guidelines and not something that needs to be followed verbatum.

Medic, you really need to do your research. Men on the beaches were issued Assault First Aid Packets too. It wasn't an "Airborne Issue Only" Item. Also, Veterans sometimes seem to forget what they were issued as the war was over 60 years ago, and you fight have confused them with the term "leggings". It just doesn't make sense to wear leggings over Jump Boots. Only gliders would have leggins over their service shoes.
As for the Shovel, he was suggesting that you should list both. By 1944 you wouldn't be seeing much of the M1910 Shovel at all. Also, he was just insighting that you should list the cartridge belt, BAR belt along with the pistol belt.
Multiple Canteens. Only Medics or troops in the PTO were issued more than one canteen. Medics carried one for themselves, and also one for their patients. In the PTO, it was dangerously hot and hydration was very important. Standard troops would just carry one canteen.
I suggest you stop lashing out at YankeeDiv. Everytime he trys to correct your mistakes, you take it as an insult. It's very childish and getting old. Best of luck to you with your unit.

OOO! So sorry Chief! There were 2 versions of Paratrooper First-Aid Packets. One issued to USAAF, the other paratroopers. So maybe, if you spent more time researching than yelling at me for NO reason whatsoever, you'd know. Maybe, is it the joy you get when you point out people's mistakes? Because I am f#cking sick of it! You have been giving me crap ever since I got here. So shut the hell up! If you don't want to join, take a back seat for once. You know what I am sick of? Your complaining. You complain that Yankee is pointing out the things that are wrong. Why even be on the forum if you dont even want to show a real effort? Maybe you just like shooting you big and rather foul mouth off? Smart remarks and yelling will get you in serious trouble sooner or later in life. And as for Yankee yelling at you...what gave you that idea? In my opinion, he very calmly answered your question (which is surprising because I am guessing he is getting tired of it) without putting you down. He was trying to help by pointing things out that you could to better. So I suggest that you cool it. Click

Okay, I am sorry, I overreacted. But sometimes it just seems that all YD does is yell! So if we could all delete these last few posts please. I am sorry once again.

Again why do you think that he is yelling? Maybe a tad more critical than you would like but yelling? Also, I think that it is very good that he pointed out the mistakes on your equipment page. We hould set high standards and if need be slack off a little. Rather than set low standards and never meet them. Click

Because I am f#cking sick of it! You have been giving me crap ever since I got here. So shut the hell up! If you don't want to join, take a back seat for once. Woah, woah, woah. I wasn't "mad" at you any time before but I am after reading all of this just now. Clearly you are looking for a fight (I wasn't), and guess what boy, you are going to get one. I hadn't even seen this thread when you sent me your apology this morning, I thought it had just referred to the OTHER thread in which you personally attacked me. I had let you off for it and gave you a warning, and guess what chum, after reading this, your warning is up. One of the many mantra's I live by is "attack/defend the point, not the man". So first I'm going to tear the credibility (or lack of it) of your information to shreds, and THEN I am going to defend myself and move on to you. As I had stated in the other thread, I would have preferred to settle this through PM, but if you're going to make it a public scene, then so will I. Now, onto how your points are completely wrong. -Hmmmm....shame the USAAF wasn't created until AFTER WWII, it was called the Army Air Corps. If it was a "paratrooper" first aid kit...then it would ONLY be for paratroopers. Not AAC or certainly USAAF personell. The assault first aid packet (aka the paratrooper first aid kit) was given to those in the first waves of the amphibious assualts during overlord, to paratroopers, and in other isolated cases throught the war. Your statement that a "paratrooper" item (which implies that only paratroopers recieved it) was given to those other than paratroopers is so redundant it's unfathomable. " ...if you spent more time researching than yelling at me for NO reason whatsoever, you'd know..." ....Right buddy. I'm the one who needs to do some researching. Now, onto the stuff I really didn't want to deal with in the first place; you. I don't like getting my hands dirty but I will if I need to. "Maybe, is it the joy you get when you point out people's mistakes?" I actually get no joy out of it whatsoever, it's quite the opposite. I cringe when I see lil' professors such as yourself be completely incorrect and ignorant in regards to historical authenticity. I get joy out of seeing people do things RIGHT, which is exactly why I give advice and correct people. "I am f#cking sick of it! You have been giving me crap ever since I got here. So shut the hell up!" Can you prove that in any way? All I do is give advice or correct people in a calm, reasonable tone (or as your teacher may call it, your "indoor voice"). I don't lash out in temper tantrums like a 14 year old girl who just lost her lip-gloss such as yourself. Give me a post that I said something like "I am f#cking sick of it!" or "So shut the hell up!" to you and prove me wrong. I have plenty posts (not that I care about it though), so you can get your head out of your a$$ and get looking. please note: THIS MEANS I'M YELLING. This means I'm not. Now lets put all this aside for a moment. If you ever plan on attending an event with me or meeting me in person I will give you a completely clean slate and it will be like we first met. I've come to learn that some 12 year olds get some big b@lls when they are safe behind their keyboard and act appropiately when they're in the real world. I'll be the 6'2, 200lb, 16 year old with a size 14 boot and a strong right leg, you can either learn to practice good manners with me and have a great day. OR you can learn just how to use that carlisle bandage on yourself. That is a warning, not a threat. It's totally up to you. -Note to medic!- If you feel like going out of your way and changing topic in your own thread by personally attacking me, I will certainly follow suit. Did you ever take the time out of your day to release from your grudge against me and realize I'm actually on your side. I could let you dive headfirst into reenacting/airsofting and let you be wrong on several different occasions, but instead I choose to help you by giving you proper advice (with nothing more) which will help you with your future involvement in the WW2AA. It's when people DON'T give you advice and DON'T correct you that you should worry. Because it means everyone has given up on you and nobody cares. I will take any form of thanks I can get, and if it means a slap in the face. I will take it and deal with it accordingly. -Note to everyone- I apologize for taking a few moments out of your day if you read my rant. I intend for it only to be a defense of myself and my reputation. This discussion with the member Medic! ends here and will only continue via PM if he wishes to contact me. If you found any of this offensive, I apologize, but there are certain things in life I will not take lying down. An undeserving slap in the face is one of them. -Note to mods- I am very sorry to violate the forum by my rantings. Hopefully you will understand that since medic decided not to keep things quiet and civil, I must stoop down to a level of his understanding and "fight" by his ways. I had proposed and still do prefer settling the issue with me and him in a private manner, but he does not wish to comply. I wholeheartidly apologize. <YD>

You quote that for what reason? Dear lord. Do you always need to get the last word in? He quoted it for reference so people would know what he is talking about. We are on the same team here. YankeeDiv was helping you. You take advice as if it is like an insult. If you can't get over it, research before you post anything. Mods please clean this thread up. -Michael

Mods please clean up the form , and I would like to apologize on behalf of this fledgling unit .I agree that all correction given on this forum should be taken as advice.I respect YankeeDiv opinion and the opinion of all other members of this forum , from now on it is my belief that if a member receives advice from another it should be carefully researched . if your opinion on the information is different please bring links to a website or, site a book , which will clear the matter up. If need be, when a problem arises , which I hope it dose not happen again , I will research the matter myself .and let's try to settle things without the yelling from both sides and pointed remarks ,that will prevent this from happening again , this note was not meant to offend anyone , I would like this to return to a peacefully and helpful environment , respectfully you your .

Hey guys. Just wanted to let you know I'm into doing WWII airsoft games here in Ohio. I just attended the Mignano Gap as a partisan, but I've been interested before that. It does require a financial investment however.
Just wanted to let you know there's support here in central Ohio and maybe we can get a WWII themed event organized for next year on airsoft ohio.com

Medic you have a lot of researching to do... your medical page is not very good... at all... Theres a book all about 505th medics... might want to get it... It even lists exactly what equipment they carried... what a bn aid station consisted of etc.... Doc McIlovy and his parachuting medics by Michel De Trez... go get it. Second just say Jump boots not Corcoran or jump boots. Also you spelled Corcoran wrong. You forgot to list their jump into Holland Operation Market-Garden. You have a lot of things to go read and I suggest you do it... It will give you a better understanding of reenacting as a member of the 505th.

I'll be sure to the book. But, how is it wrong (where)? I got the facts from 2 different web sites (http://home.att.net/~steinert/ , med-dept.com). I know what an Aid Station consists of, I just thought that would be a nice name for information about medics.

You are going by what a Infantry Medic Carries... airborne medics did different things cause a. They had less members. and B the equipment was carried differently. For example typically in sicily and italy medics of the 505th carried one bag and a drop bag full of equipment. In normandy and holland they jumped with 2 bags and a drop bag. but they got rid of the drop bag and 2nd bag at a aid station or CP. And carried just one bag. Read that book and you will understand what im talking about.
